I am currently researching the Decatur Cemetery, located in Decatur, Dekalb County, Georgia, it's history, and the individuals that are interred in the Old Cemetery section in relationship to the early history of Decatur, Georgia.

Virtual Cemetery:

Confederate States of America Veterans that are buried in Decatur Cemetery.

Civil War:

The Virtual Cemetery titled Civil War: C.S.A. Veterans - Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Dekalb County, Georgia lists the Confederate States of America Veterans that are buried in the Decatur Cemetery that currently have memorials on Find A Grave that match those veterans listed within The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Roster of Confederate Graves, Volume IX Third Supplemental Volume, Georgia & Other States, Dekalb County, Decatur, Georgia; (2004).

The U. D. C. records list indicates that there are 150 C. S. A. veterans buried in the Decatur Cemetery.

However, careful review of this U. D. C. data concludes that some of these markers that were placed within the cemetery by the U. D. C. in the early 1900's are in line with being a Memorial Marker rather than marking the grave of a C. S. A. veteran that is actually buried in the Decatur Cemetery.

I have also found several C. S. A. veterans that are buried in the Decatur Cemetery that do not appear on any of the U. D. C. lists too which are included within this virtual cemetery.

Female C. S. A. Veteran

Within the Virtual Cemetery you will find a memorial for Nannie Colquitt (Hill) Morgan, Find A Grave Memorial# 55068107 who was a founding member and the Captain of the LaGrange Nancy Harts Militia. This militia is historically recognized as well as her contribution in the defense of LaGrange, Georgia in April of 1865.

Thank you so much for the great write up on Midshipman William Sinclair! It is so much appreciated! Where did you get all the info from? I have many ancestors that were in the military and I would love to have access to the same type of material. Again, thank you sooo much!

Captain Morgan
Thank you so much for sending me the additional information to add to Captain Morgan's memorial. It's great to have it and the photo of him as well.

I volunteer in the office at Decatur Cemetery on Tuesday mornings so we may bump into each other some day. Keep up the good work! :-)
