Annie Garrett Wimmer #16280698
Hi, Sharon -

I believe "Circle" is the Americanized version of "Zirkle" and I use them both in my data base. I chose to show Annie's mother as Elizabeth Ann Circle because that's the name used in "Roanoke County Marriages, 1838-1850" by John Vogt and T. William Kethley, Jr., based on Returns of Ministers copied by a clerk into the Register of Marriages:

William Garrett and Elizabeth Ann Circle
29 Dec 1842
Minister - Thomas Hildebrand (Methodist)

I thought it was a more complete form of her name. Really just a judgment on my part.

Overton Corrections
My sister, Bertha Hood, has been forwarding me your corrections on the Overton line. My great grandmother was Artelier Overton, daughter of John Bibb Overton. My grandmother, Cora Mae Randles Avery started our family tree and most of the work she did was word of mouth from various relatives. My sister and I inherited her work and have done extensive work on all lines EXCEPT Overton. It seems that nothing ever matches up when we work on this line.
I do not have reliable internet connections so I don't have much of a chance to get online, but while I am sitting at the laundry mat here, I thought I would send you a note to see how you are connected and where you are finding your information.
Maybe, if you are interested in this line, we can compare notes.

Charles Gates 15802477
After finding information that seems to give doubt that his birth year was 1860, I will change it back to 1861 even though his death cert has 1860.

I have found death cert to give b. dates wrong. My own grand father for one, his oldest son gave the information for the death cert. He gave his fathers year of birth as 1852, after I researched, I found that he was 1 yr old in the 1850 census.

The informant may not have details right at that time for the death Cert. and when the headstone is picked out and the dates may be more correct.

Charles Gates was not in the 1860 Census.
1870 census he was 9 yrs old
and in 1900 census b. was given as Feb 1861
he was 39 yrs old and he or his wife memory was at that time was more than likely to remember b. dates.
