My Grandparents told me I have 'an old soul". Maybe that's why I've spent countless hours documenting the lives and memories of those who have gone before me. I am accustomed to being called the crazy relative who knows the history of our family. What a gift I can leave our children in the stories both good and bad -- of their lineage. If I can be of assistance to others on this same adventure, please let me know.

RE: Knighton family
Thank you for your offer of assistance on my line of Knightons. I may take you up on it in the future. I gave your name and e-mail address to my distant cousin in California and she indicated that she would get in touch with you. If you have not heard from her yet, let me know and I will give you her e-mail addy. I think she is also a F-A-G volunteer.

I transferred the Ruffs I found--let me know if there are others. As far as I know, I am no relation to any Minters anywhere. There were sometimes alternate spellings of Mintier or Manteer, or even what some in the family think was the original Montour--but never Minter.

RE: Knighton family
Pattie, sorry for being so tardy in answering your inquiry. I have only seen Samuel's name in old genealogical records but do not believe he is in my direct line. I have fleshed in most of my Knighton line going back to the 1600's. I am now working it forward to the present generation. My tree is on and if you are a member there, you should be able to look at it without difficulty. I have communicated off and on over the last 4 or 5 years with a lady in Caliornia who is a cousin (many places removed) who has a lot of Knighton info. If you like, I will send her your e-mail address and ask her to contact you. Let me know and I'll get an note out to her promptly. Thanks.

Robert Henry Ruff 1852
Hi I'm Bobby Thompson, Great great grandson of Robert Henry Ruff. I have heard of his daughter, Lenora Ruff Covington from my mother and grandfather through the years. They were from the Big Creek, Ms area. A lot of the family migrated toward the Memphis area. Keep up the good work.

RE: James D. Hamilton

My Hamilton family originated in Scotland, immigrated to Maryland, migrated to North Carolina and then Missouri. After the death of the my 4th gr-grandfather, his wife and several of the children moved to Texas, where they resided in Williamson County.

I don't have a James D. in my tree, but this family was huge.

RE: Franklin Marion Ruff
Since the memorial in Bisbee has his tombstone, I would say that is the correct one. Mine at Greenwood was based on his death certificate and things do happen between the time the death certificate is created and the actual burial. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will be deleting my memorial.

That is so nice that you do that! I love getting out and taking pictures and it is sad when I run across some I can't read. Your family's efforts at replacing worn down stones is commendable! Cindi
