|patty gschwender||Arthur Metcalf|
Hi Sharon, i wanted to thank you for posting the picture of Isabelle Metcalf on my Find A Grave site. I have been to the Dixon Run Cemetery and Arthurs tombstone is almost completely gone. The only picture we have if it is in Susan's book of the Metcalfs. Please fill free to contact me for any information that you might like to have. Their daughter Isabell Metcalf married Johnson Murphy which is on my fathers side of the family. Thank you again. Patty#47517041

I was going to mention that the reason I had his birthplace as Illinois was that is how it was listed in the California Death index. But mistakes happen in transcriptions, so you would have to get the death certificate to verify that is accurate, someone easily could have taken IA for an IL if written in a hurry.

I've changed the wording a bit on Sarah Grantham's bio in order to clear up what I meant. She was not married in 1817. Her parents were. Thus far I have found no marriage record for Sarah Albritton & Nathan Grantham. I was told by the Livingston Parish Courthouse that they don't have records back that far, thus their marriage date has been implied by census records and birth dates of their children. My great-great-grandmother was Mary Jane Grantham Johnson. She was born in 1837 in Livingston Parish--I have that from a letter she wrote when trying to obtain her Confederate Widow's Pension. I don't know where anyone has been able to obtain a specific marriage date for Sarah & Nathan unless there's a Bible record out there somewhere that someone got the information from but no one has posted a copy of it anywhere from what I've been able to find.

Sharon, I have transferred John's memorial to you. You should manage your grandfather's memorial . . . and be able to add and change what you wish. I added this because I am a Whitson descendant but not related to this particular branch and add Whitson's whenever and wherever I find them. Please enjoy. He looked like a wonderful man. Makes me think of my own grandfather.
