I started with Find-A-Grave researching my Maternal grandparents. Then turned my attention the South Carolina's Civil War Dead. I am now trying to locate those who served in the Regiments raised by the Palmetto State and organize them in virtual cemeteries by regiment and company. A daunting task but one that needs to be undertaken.
Thank you for the link, I don't have John on my list of men who served in Company F. I need to do a little research there.
As to my virtual cemetery, I hid it from view because there's a well intentioned lady who was filling all the photo slots with muster rolls. I've had to request the removal of several when I found photographs of the men or to add the grave photo. I didn't want her to do that to all my memorials because I'm still working on them.
RE: Glad to join the hunt. Thank you so much. Some soldiers names might not be right or units. The list I have is what I'm going by. R. Dill, Co. E, 12th S.C.. and just a last name Dillard, Co. G, 1st S.C.. They should have died in Richmond, Va. in one of the hospitals or battles around Richmond. I might have about 60 soldiers from S.C. I cant find. So take your time no hurry. Thanks again.
Just wanted to let you know how terrific (and ambitious!) I think your virtual cemeteries are. I think you added most, if not all of Company F, 7th SC Cavalry. Took me over a year to do just the one company so I wish you the best of luck. If you find any soldiers that I haven't found info on, please drop me line.
