I grew up in Huron County Michigan, then moved to Oshkosh Wisconsin for 35 years where I taught children who were deaf/blind and then elementary education. I have always been interested in family history but had not had time to pursue it until my retirement. My father Fred Ewald loved history and I think he would have been happy to learn more about his family's past. My mom had a very good memory and was able to get me started on the journey. I do the research in honor of my parents but for my two little granddaughters Landin and Jesse who may someday want to know their history.
My contributions are members of my family. If you notice any errors please let me know as I would like an accurate record.
Thank you to all who have worked on FindAGrave which has led me to some discoveries of my own.

RE: Alice DePeal Cunningham
Concerning the Alice (DePeal) you located: Her mother Eliza Barnett DePeal had asked the State of Michigan for help as Nicholas had been off on one of his long travels either trapping or working and she was barely making it in the dirt floor shack that they lived in. She was cooking for a logging crew and would bring home some food for the kids. When the state got involved they put Alice, Annie and George into homes and left Alonzo with his mother as he was so young. Michael one of the older siblings had run away at that time- he was my great-grandfather. He later found George and wrote him a letter about this. I can give you more detail about them and the conditions they lived in if you are interested or have not heard all this already. Lorinda DePeal Martin

thank you for the information. Your Alice I believe was possibly named after that Alice. I have been looking for her so appreciate the find.
