RE: Mount Hope-Vance & Bland
I appreciate your help. i wonder which Eliza they are listing since there were two Eliza vances. Ira's and William's wives. I'm pretty confident she's there since that's where her family and her husband are. I had gotten the info from her death certificate. I'll start contacting funeral homes and see if they can help me so we don't make a wasted trip. What is a sexton? We don't have those in the south lol.

Thank you again for all your help.

I got to thinking if they buried my great grandfather with his first wife Eliza (still finding that hard to believe since Alice was married for him about 10 yrs longer - I'd say she and my grandfather were outnumbered by his 4 older kids), my great grandmother Alice might be buried near the Blands - Amos, Mary, Henry and Mary Ellen if she's not anywhere near him. I never thought at 65 I'd live to see the day I discovered so much about my dad's family, because he knew so very little about any of his relatives. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the photo of my great grandfather's headstone. I can't believe my great grandmother buried him with his first wife. What a shock. Must have been financial. Did you find my great grandmother's headstone? Alice Bland Vance? Ira would have been his dad's brother- thank you.

RE: Amos, Mary and Henry Bland
Thank you so much Virgil. I had compiled our family history for my son and that was when I discovered who my great grandparents were. I had never seen a picture of Alice until an aunt gave me one and I've never seen a picture of my great grandfather William. The only way I know where they are buried is from their death certificates which are posted on their memorials and it made sense that Alice took her husband to be buried in the same cemetery as Amos since he passed away a few days before her husband suddenly died, then her mother 2 months later. Their memorials are 76159878 and 117039642

I noticed on the right hand side of the photo there is another monument with the Bland name on it.

Again, thank you for the photos. You did a nice job with the picture

Thank you so much for the headstone photos from the Mount Hope Cemetery. May I have your permission to use them in my personal research database?

Thank you again for taking the time to photograph the headstones.

Amos, Mary and Henry Bland
thank you so so much for these pictures. I never knew who my great grandparents were until a couple of years ago. Were you able to find their daughter, my grandmother Alice Bland Vance and her husband William Simpson Vance? They are supposed to be in the same cemetery according to their death certificates.
Again, thank you for this gift.
