While I am a new Find-A-Grave Contributing Member (as of today 2/28/2013), I began my genealogy "career" 39 years ago (April 1974), when my older son was 3 months old. During that period, I have trekked through many a cemetery, always armed with my camera (and frequently with several yards of pellum and charcoal pencils for gravestone rubbings).|
I ended a somewhat dormant period of my genealogical pursuits last summer when I subscribed to Ancestry.com and have been fairly active since then. Although I would love to have the international version to explore in Europe, especially some of my Irish roots, I subscribe to the domestic version only at present. Ancestry.com is really amazing.
I have fairly recently begun to learn more about what a wonderful resource the Find-A-Grave System really is and made my first two contributions tonight. I will not be in the same league with those whose contributions number in the 6 figures, but I do plan to be a very regular contributor. Also, I have indicated that I will be a photo volunteer. I look forward to working with all parts of the system to further my own research but also to assist others who might request my assistance.
With Regard to Memorials which I may add on individuals not within my own family: I am happy to make appropriate corrections or add details via the "Suggest A Correction" button on the memorial. I will also be pleased to consider any appropriate transfers of management for such memorials. To document the date and reason for transfers, and hopefully prevent possible deletion of memorials and/or family squabbles, in requesting transfer of a memorial, please leave a message here including the memorial name & number, and your relationship, name & member ID.
I have no intent of commercial or financial gain from posting information on this site. I do this solely for my own enjoyment and for non-family additions I might make as a service to others searching for family burial locations for personal or genealogy purposes.
If I have created a memorial for a family member of yours, please feel free to request a transfer.
Any photo I have posted on Find a Grave is intended to be used.... Please feel free to use them for personal, non-commercial, use and in the documentation of your loved ones.
Thank you! Gerald

Correction done. Thank you.
|L Bruns||John E. Gannaway, III 78007504|
I received your message regarding Mr. Gannaway and his wife. I wish I knew the answer to your question. I am not the creator of this memorial, merely the one who maintains the memorials created by Stoneshooter, who has since become inactive. I see that the Gannaways are in her family line. If you are in the family line I'll be happy to transfer this memorial to you for maintenance.
kindest regards, LBruns

Hi Gerald, I wanted 2 let U know that I have come across more Cook family info. It is concerning John &Lucinda (Brunson) Cook. I got cemetery pics and dates and more. John had 2 marriages. His 2nd wife was Eliza C. Hicks. All of the info is on Find A Grave. I am adding it to my Cook tree now. I think I had a bunch of Brunson info also. I found it at Yalobusha, MS. The Cooks R in the Cook cemetery.
Hi Gerald. I linked the McBride's. Happy to transfer if you are kin and would like to manage. Take care, Ann

As a relatively new member, you may not be aware of the protocols and policies by which the site operates, so I will explain. The issue you raise, that of Northern Ireland not existing at the time, the answer to that is simple: per FindAGrave protocol, and Mark, the country shown is what it is called TODAY, not what it was called in the 1600's. Indeed, there is no county called Armagh in Ireland listed in the database. That is not a 'free form' field. If you wish to verify this for yourself, you need only go to one of your own memorials, select 'country' as Ireland, then select the 'county' listing. I believe you will see that 'Armagh' is NOT listed. However, if you select Northern Ireland as 'country', and then select the 'county' listing, you will see Armagh listed. Therefore, if I wish to list the county as Armagh, I have no choice but to use Northern Ireland. The other option would be to list only Ireland and no county name. I chose the former over the latter.
