|Hi, I am gathering my ancestors on Find A Grave and am a descendent of Eleanor Thomas b. 1820 and Jehu "John" Rucker b. 1816, both from Ohio. The ancestral connection to Peter Rucker of Virginia, the first Rucker to arrive in America, has finally been made.|
My ancestral trail is Peter Rucker (Virginia) to James Rucker (Virginia) to Lemuel Rucker (Virginia, Ohio) to Ambrose Rucker (Virginia, Ohio, Iowa) to Jehu Rucker (Ohio) to Benjamin Rucker (Ohio, Nebraska, Arkansas) to Allen Rucker (Ohio, Nebraska, Oklahoma) to Albert Rucker (Nebraska, Oklahoma, California, Arizona)
I have a virtual cemetery with non related Ruckers in it. If you find one in there that is your Ancestor I will be glad to transfer the memorial to you.
Feel free to leave a message with any information or questions.

The weather was temperate enough to travel to Perry. We reviewed Section E and the Rucker burials. I am convinced that Allen J. is, in fact H.A. There is no headstone for the infant who had to have been born to Allen and died in 1901.
I did a pan photo of their burial area if you want it. There are two burials nearby, but those do not appear related.

Thinking the same exact thing about the identities.

Mary, we have been archiving that cemetery. Have no other information. We are in the process of trying to get all the listings up and about 6,000+ pics. Might check back. Seems very likely that those Rucker's are some relation. Not convinced that the master list is all that accurate, although it is far, far better than most we have worked with.

I did not know and never met Joyce.

Mary, I worked with your Uncle Don for many years. He was a great carpenter and friend.

I sent this information to whoever is in charge of this Memorial. They had his death date as 1895. I pointed out that in their photo of his tombstone he died in 1892. Their only response was to take down the picture and fix death date! I have a copy of the tombstone photo taken down. the story:
I don't think I am related to J B Rucker. But while reading old newspapers for clues on my gggrandfather's (Elliott Rucker 1814-1889) parents, I often get distracted by stories about other Ruckers. These facts about this murder come from several different papers. I can send you copies if you like. Rucker was shot at 8 pm as he was walking home. The electric lights in the town square had just come on. "Rucker had bitterly denounced lawlessness in Pulaski, and his fearlessness brought him many enemies among outlaws". Somerset's ex Chief of Police John C Anderson was charged with the murder. Anderson had resigned two months earlier to go into the saloon buisiness. Rucker had written several times about Anderson's illegal conduct and had recieved many threats from him. Anderson's black hat was found near the murder scene. His saloon partner said Anderson had skipped town with all the money he could rake up. Anderson was located three years later in Canada. Officers were sent to get him. I don't know if he was returned, convicted or lynched. One story stated. "Pulaski county is shaken and lawlessness will now be wiped out." None of Rucker's family member's names were ever mentioned. His wife and two of his daughters were at his death bed.
His tombstone (erected by the town) looks like it is over 20 feet tall.
In their profile at the time they said they had added 20,000 memorials and they owned the copyrights to all of their photos. My email is email@example.com. I could send you a copy of pic. I think I might get sued if I posted back on the memorial. Darrell Rucker
|JANET NELSON FOLDEN||RE: Foldens|
I'm sorry, but I married into the Folden "klan".Opps, NOT sorry I married a Folden, but sorry I can not help you more. Although I do quite a bit of my own genealogy, I have not been able to get my husband interested in doing his. His name is Charles Warner Folden, Jr. His dad was a Charles Warner as well as his Great grandfather. (It skipped a generation) Don't know if that helps you any.
