Hi, I am gathering my ancestors on Find A Grave and am a descendent of Eleanor Thomas b. 1820 and Jehu "John" Rucker b. 1816, both from Ohio. The ancestral connection to Peter Rucker of Virginia, the first Rucker to arrive in America, has finally been made.

My ancestral trail is Peter Rucker (Virginia) to Lemuel Rucker (Virginia, Ohio) to Ambrose Rucker (Virginia, Ohio, Iowa) to Jehu Rucker (Ohio) to Benjamin Rucker (Ohio, Nebraska, Arkansas) to Allen Rucker (Ohio, Nebraska, Oklahoma) to Albert Rucker (Nebraska, Oklahoma, California, Arizona)

I have a virtual cemetery with non related Ruckers in it. If you find one in there that is your Ancestor I will be glad to transfer the memorial to you.

Feel free to leave a message with any information or questions.

Sarah Rucker
Hi. I'm researching my ancestors Ruben Cline (63268544) and Sarah Rucker Cline (129653848). They died in Linn County Iowa and were buried in Urbana, Benton County, Iowa. I'm wondering if my Sarah Rucker is the same Sarah Rucker who was Ambrose Rucker and Sarah Steele Rucker's daughter Sarah. Some sources say Ambrose's dau Sarah died in 1845, but I have yet to see any primary sources for that.

Do you have any information that may help me make the connection?

Hi Mary! I'm a descendent of the Keepers thru Charles E. Keepers-Verona Keepers Rose-Rebecca Rose Donally. Is the picture of the gentleman on Find a Grave John Stanley?

I'm the descendent who placed the grave marker on Charles Keepers' grave.

Thanks, Becky Donally (

An Iowa Rucker

My name is Steve Rucker. I live in Monticello, Iowa. We are related. My lineage also goes back to Lemuel Rucker also. My direct lineage goes to Ambrose Rucker's brother Paschal. I have visited Ambrose's grave to pay my respects.

About the same time frame that Ambrose and family settled in Linn County. Four of his nephews and one niece settled outside of Belle Plaine, Iowa, in Benton County about 35 miles southwest of their Uncle Ambrose. One Paschal's sons, Elliot, my great great grandfather, was one of those nephews.

If you search Find a Grave in Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine, Iowa, every Rucker is from our family. Nancy Blake, also buried there, is the Rucker niece who settled there.

I have written a paper on those Ruckers , if you are ever interested. Good luck with your research.

Harriet Augusta Rucker Neal
Mary, I have transferred. She was related; but only by marriage, on both sides of my family.

Sylvester Rose

Sylvester's father was the younger brother of my gg-grandfather, Rev. Jehu Rose. So, I guess somewhere that makes us some kind of cousin. If you are ever looking for information on the Roses, contact me. I've done a lot of research on that family.

Re: Ruckers

I just linked Ambrose, the son of Lemuel and Ann Booton to their memorial. Ambrose is buried on our GG Grandfather Caleb Hendryx' lot at Lafayette Cemetery, Linn Co., Iowa. When we visited his grave in 2007, the grave stone was broken and our cousin repaired the head stone and reset it.

As you know early records are hard to trace, VA, Ohio, etc.

I've done a little research on Ambrose Ruck b. 17 Mar 1787, VA. Trying to figure out IF perchance there is some kind of relationship, but I haven't figured it out yet!

Caleb's parents and siblings are unknown to us. I was hoping that Ambrose was married to Caleb's mother through a 2nd marriage... but I haven't found anything yet.

Ohio records are very scare from 1810-1820...

The Ruckers acquired land in the Ohio River Base about 1804, the map with Surnames is really had to read. I listed the names on his memorial page.

Caleb lived in New London and Clarksfield, Huron, in 1820, 1830.

I'm still perplexed as to why Ambrose is buried on the Hendryx lot with his family.

Keep me posted as you do your research if you run across any Hendryx widows during 1818-1830. Hendricks/Hendrix/Hendryx

I prefer e-mail if you'd like to follow-up.

Thank you!
