RE: John Wendling
Well, I certainly need to check on this possible error that I may have made. You make a valid point about the John Wendling in Potters field. I hope I can check on this and the death certificate for Salome tomorrow - today the 23rd of Dec. If I can not get to it today, I will have to wait until after Christmas to check this out and make any corrections. The only connection to Salome is thats I have a "Wendling" ancestor. I may not be connected to Salome at all. I am just trying to place any Wendling I can by way of Wendling death certificates I find on I'll get back to you. Merry Christmas, Suzzette

RE: Emma Smith
You can log into the Discussion Forums and there's a thread called Cemetery Corrections. Put the link to the cemetery in there with an explanation that it is a duplicate.

RE: emails
Thanks for the addres Ron. It's deleted. I will send you an email and you will then have mine and I will update yours in my contacts to your current one.

Still wish I could remember what our last discussion was about. "Long live short memories" I used to always say when I was a kid and couldn't remember things. Guess it still applies. Some things never change.

RE: e-mail
Email. No I'm not using Outlook and it saving them to my harddrive. I know, in some ways, it would have been better to have, but then again, my PC is much safer with my emails on someone else's PC (server). I've had enough trouble with lightning hitting my computers without having an email 'bomb' (infection) hit one.

I think I know what happened on the missing ones. Yahoo, with it's updating it's email interface & when they move to new servers, they do state that they will try and move all of a persons emails. All these years I'd had no problems with their moves, until this last change, just a while back. That is when I lost a few of my old ones. All my old ones have the date of the day that I "forwarded" all my emails from my old address to my new one and have them all look like they were sent from 'me' and not who wrote them. All in February 2006. I have lots for that date, but not all of them. And the ones with you are some of the ones I no longer have.

Okay, as for Still Valley near Broadway? No, not that I'm aware of. What town would that be? My dad was Charles Sutton, son of Percy & Emily, and I am down in Florida where we finally settled down, back in 1972, near my mom's folks.

I'm Valerie. My old email was james_valeriegilmore @ yahoo dot com.

Does that ring any bells with you? Have an old email with any of that on your harddrive?

I wracked my brain last night/this morning, trying to remember what our topic had been and I'm thinking, it might have been to do with Jessie Catherine and your wife's connection. Before starting this genealogy, I had NOT known that Grammy's sister Jessie, was mother of my dad's cousin Ray Repsher that I remember my dad being so fond of. I knew he was dad's cousin, but not how. But then again, it might have just been something with to do about Jacob or Michael.

If the above doesn't ring amy bells with you, then I will do some digging and see where I have some notes about our contact. I know that I had note of it, but I don't know if it was written in notebooks or on family sheets or typed in my old computer that was fried by lightning. Or on the one that died a couple of weeks later of old age. Using 'old' backups, I had tried to piece together what I had on the two computers on to new laptop, but I had stuff on the two older ones that weren't on the backups. I had been working that night to get the two combined to make one big database & set of files and had my disks ready for a big current backup when lightning suddenly zapped my laptop while I was still sitting there compiling.

I can just hear comedian Jeff Foxworthy, joking with his, "this is your sign" spill. "If you are sitting and typing up your genealogy and lightning suddenly zaps your computer... then MAYBE, that's your sign!"..... ugh.

I have another one sitting beside my that was zapped a couple of months ago. It still works, unlike the first one. The lightning only fried the ethernet port, so I can't use it on the internet (I don't have wireless set up), so I'm now using, again, the one that replaced my first two.

Ain't life grand?

RE: Emma's obit.
Thanks Ron for obit. It is wonderful to finally get to read it. Old Easton papers are on Google newspapers, but the ones for Emma's date weren't and I didn't find her in the Easton Library obits any time that year or the year before or after, just in case I had typed the date wrong. I've checked city directories and the 1920 census, but could not find her after the last directory after Jacob's death.

Uh, yeah, I was looking for Emma Hill. Not Smith. If Google had the newspaper for this date, I would have known it was her only by the names of her children. So, now I will get busy and look for things on Reuben Smith and see what turns up.

I had even scoured through Pennsylvania death certificates trying to see if maybe her death was associated in Pennsylvania. No luck. Uh yeah, I was not looking for a Smith.

Amazing how one detail can knock you off the trail. Um, I just noticed something else. Did her sister Amanda remarry to a McDowell? Or have I got Hugh McDonald when he should have been McDowell? Maybe that's why I lost her too! I found information on all her other siblings but was getting no where with Amanda. I need to find Amanda McDowell, not McDonald. ay yi yi.

Thanks again,

RE: Rasley. Which Rasleys are your husband's reletives??
All of them. Unless they fall in the Find A Grave Guidelines those I will not transfer. My husband's 2X great grandmother was a Rasley along with an Aunt who married into the Rasley clan.

RE: Trinkley memorials
I transferred all the Trinkleys I had from Plainfield Cemetery to you. There was one not connected to any of the family members, Emma M. Trinkley Watson, 115320933. Please let me know if she is related to your wife and if so I will transfer her too. It is always better to send the memorial numbers you want transferred to you instead of listing just a generic request.

RE: Jacob & Emma Hill.
Yeah, we made contact, but I can't remember exactly over who or what. And as I said, Yahoo has decided to drop some of my saved emails or they lost them. *sigh*

So, Emma married a Reuben Smith? No WONDER I haven't been able to find her! I had wondered why all my digging was not turning anything up and it had crossed my mind if she had remarried but I couldn't find anything on who it might be, IF she did.

Reuben Smith. Ugh. "Smith", go figure. heheh.

Sharon won't know anything. They told me what very little they knew, while I was up there. I had asked if ANYONE had anything from Grammy (Emily Hill) in the way of any papers or letters or anything at all and she told me no, that Grammy kept nothing, except her 'delayed' birth certificate (obtained for getting Percy's pension) and her kids certificates. That was it they told me. I asked if any of the daughters of Emily and Percy had anything saved? Any one write anything in a bible at least? Nope. *sigh*. Nothing on Percy's side either.

I will do some digging and see if I can dredge up anything on Emma now that I know I'm looking for a "Smith". I've seen the date of death of 7 Jan 1927 in Alpha, Warren for her, but I hadn't been able to find anything to go with that. But, I was looking for a Hill and I needed to look for a Smith instead.

Wait, you mentioned an obituary? Care to share what it was? Pretty please? I'll dig around and see what I can share back. ^_^

RE: Jacob & Emma Hill.
Hi Ron,
Thanks for contacting me. I'm responding in your messages because I did not see your email shown on the page. (or did I look square at it and not see it?)

I have your address from a very long time ago, but don't know if it is your current one. If it has not been changed over time, then let me know and I'll zip you off a note and you will be updated to the one I now use. I had to change mine a long time ago because I was so bombarded with spam that I finally created a new one and tried to forward to the new one all my genealogy and legal emails. I missed a couple or so, but got 98-99% of them...

*sigh* I just looked through my old emails, and Yahoo appears to, recently, have eradicated a bunch of them because I cannot find the ones for you and I, and a lot of others that I remember with other people. rats. So much for "unlimited storage" they tout... I now have email addresses for messages that I no longer have... I now only have a bout a couple dozen or so of the ones I transfered. :((

I know it was before Jun 2004, because Mom and I made a trip up to Phillipsburg that month and when I told cousin Sharon about my having emailed with you, she told me, "yeah, she knew about it." When seeing my confusion, she told me that Nancy had told her over the phone about my email contact. I asked her, "you KNOW them?" She told me "yeah, she talks on the phone to Nancy all the time." Well, knock me over with a feather, is how I felt.

Anyways, just give me a reply of if yours is the same as it was back in, oh, about 2003-2004 or not. Yeah, it was that long ago that you and I conversed on the Hills. ^_^
