Elizabeth Coleman McColskey
Greetings, Tyler:

I'm hunting for my 2X great grandmother (formerly a Coleman, maiden name Bardin) who, on February 1, 1877 married Cornelius McCloskey. He was the brother of James A. McCloskey. In the 1880 census, Elizabeth was bed-ridden with inflammatory rheumatism (?)... writing not clear. Cornelius died in that same year and was buried with his first wife Mary Ward. Elizabeth seems to have vanished. Can anyone help me?

You have duplicate photos on the site. Please consider deletion of one of them.

TONY MAC LAWSON & LINDA P. LAWSON, Old Spring Hill Cemetery
Hi Tyler,

I just sent you a "suggestion" bio sketch for TONY MAC LAWSON; however, after I hit the "leave this message" key, I realized I was on the page of his wife LINDA P. LAWSON.

Please excuse the error and consider the suggestion for Tony.

Thank you,

Thank you for your reply, Tyler. I'll keep trying to find the creator. LostGeneration and Jason said they did not create the cemetery...I'm still waiting to hear from Jim Townsend.

Have a great Memorial Day week-end!

Hi Tyler,

I am trying to find out who originally created the Old Spring Hill Cemetery on FIND-A-GRAVE so that the description can be revised. I have additional information to add and some to change.

I prepared a description and put it on the page for the WILLIAMS-POWELL CEMETERY that I created and I'm assuming who ever created OLD SPRING HILL may have cut & pasted it to OSHC, which is fine with me as not description was there originally.

Now, I need to revise it...can you provide any info as to who may have created it?

Thanks for your help,

Hi Tyler,

Thank you for this info and thank you for transferring Benj. Pemberton Williams to me to maintain his Memorial page going forward.

It's okay about a 'source' for F. L. "Frank" Haynes being buried at OLD SPRING HILL. I don't need one...I just thought if it was in the same book as his father, that it might be good to 'source' or 'reference' it.

If you've been to the cemetery and you saw his slab, then that's fine by me. Interesting that all that is engraved on his slab is F H, isn't it? No dates or other identifying info. Humm...

Any idea who Linda P. Lawson & Tony M. Lawson are?

Thanks for all your help & info.

Hi Tyler,
Thank you for transferring your Memorial pages from the Williams Cemetery to the OLD SPRING HILL Cemetery.

Jim Townsend who listed JAMES NASH WILLIAMS & DRADA WILLIAMS moved them to the Williams and Bullock Cemetery.

I contacted P. Gayle-Boan re: JOHN HENRY WILLIAMS, but I don't believe she/he has moved him yet. I think he too is buried in the Williams and Bullock Cemetery with his other family members.

You said you 'think' he is buried at OLD SPRING HILL, that a record indicated he was. Can you "source" that like you did for where his father is buried? It's interesting that FRANK would not be buried with his wife a some of his children in the HAYNES FAMILY CEMETERY in Robeson Co.

RE: LINDA P. & TONY M. LAWSON...check the spelling of LAWSON as you have entered it LAWAON. Do you know who they are related to?

RE: B.A. WILLIAMS...this is B. P. WILLIAMS...BENJAMIN PEMBERTON, a son of Giles Bright & Mary Ann.

RE: BRIGHT & I both have him listed which doesn't bother me, but I thought I'd give you his full name: BRIGHT HERRING WILLIAMS and his date of death is: Dec 7, 1895 rather than Dec 22, 1893. The photo of your headstone is hard to read due to the black mold. If you look at the photo on my listing, you can make out the dates easier and if you "do the math" of the age listed on his headstone, you'll determine he had to be born in 1895, not 1893. It is hard to make out the last number on his YOD.

RE: SARAH WILLIAMS...again, you & I both have her listed. Her given name is SARAH ALFORD THOMPSON (maiden name) and she was born Mar. 23, 1806 rather than Mar. 24, 1806. Look closely at her headstone to see if you agree.

RE: OLD SPRING HILL is not located on WILLIAMS property, as I had originally thought. The property is owned by the descendants of MARSHALL ALBERT SEALEY who was buried there in 1967. I have talked with one of his daughters who owns the property, LOLA SEALEY ROUSE of Orrum. She said "it is in my daddy's Will that my sister and I are to maintain the cemetery as long as we own the property". So Lola oversees the maintenance of the cemetery.

MARSHALL was born in 1898, so I'm thinking that his father before him may have designated a portion of his property to be used as a cemetery (Lola said it started out as about 1/4 acre but has grown over time) and his son MARSHALL continued with the maintenance and burials.

LOLA further said that she has NEVER heard it referred to as the WILLIAMS CEMETERY or the WILLIAMS-POWELL cemetery...only as the SPRING HILL CEMETERY and OLD SPRING HILL CEMETERY. She said "they" have talked about putting up a sign for the cemetery, but just never have done it. I asked her what name would she put on a sign and she said OLD SPRING HILL CEMETERY.

So...there we have it...straight from the owners mouth!

I tried editing the info. I submitted re: the cemetery being aka Williams and aka Williams-Powell, but I can't do it. I guess I'll have to contact FIND-A-GRAVE and ask them to do it.

Have a good day!

Hi Tyler,

I notice that you have six (6) Memorial pages for burials at WILLIAMS CEMETERY in Robeson Co., NC.

Two of the names I recognize as my ancestors buried at OLD SPRING HILL CEMETERY on Fair Bluff Road, Orrum, Sterlings Township, Robeson Co., NC: Bright Williams (#116234741) & Sarah Williams (#116234511).

There is no descriptive info. given on the WILLIAMS CEMETERY page other than it is located in Robeson County. I am thinking that it is probably one & the same as OLD SPRING HILL since you indicate that Bright & wife Sarah Williams are buried there.

1. Can you tell me how it is you know it as "Williams Cemetery"?
2. Can you tell me anything about it's location? 3. Have you visited the cemetery?
4. Should I contact FIND-A-GRAVE and request that they merge the two cemeteries?
5. Did you create the Williams Cemetery page?

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Karen M. Freeman
