I am a 3rd generation graveyard walker, with family members in 4 main cemeteries of Andrew & Buchanan counties, and 6 smaller cemeteries also. My grandmother would tell us family stories as we would take a pleasant walk by memorable old stones on nice breezy days with green grass, flowers, trees. Modern cemeteries with flat stones just aren't the same thing. Grandma would also keep track
of extended family through the mail, and kept a diary, turning out to be the family historian. As a result, I am a genealogist. Also, my mother & brother before me. They had it the old way...no computers or message boards. Dusty courthouse records, mail distant courthouses, write down the dates & names on tombstones & take a photo, call & ask cousin so& so...So now I do this, for families.

RE: Collier Family
Jenifer - Ruth (Whitley) Collier was the first wife of Moses Collier - son of John and Cecelia Collier. Moses doesn't have a memorial. His second wife was Elizabeth Spadden and she's buried in the old Whitley burying grounds or Pennington Cemetery in Lincoln County. I'm not sure the info for her is correct. Moses' will names his children as:
Elizabeth Tucker
Sealia HaMILTON
Ruthy Tucher
Adala Collier
Sarah Colyer
Nancy Roberts
Moses Collier
Arron Collier
Solomon Collier
James Collier
Whitley Collier
Ruth's tombstone says she's the mother of 9 and Elizabeth's will claims James, Nancy and Sarah. this should equal 12, but only 11 are mentioned in Moses' will. Several of these kids have never been located.Hope this helps. Wilda

RE: #92045405 Ruth Collier
I have no info on Ruth or her children. The children that have been linked to her are from other contributors. I created her memorial from info in the Tombstone Inscription book for Lincoln County, KY. The newspapers I use don't start until 1879 which is 90 years after she died. I'm sorry I could not be of any help.

RE: Collier Family
Jenifer = I was just looking at your photo requests and saw you ask for one for James Collier of Platte County, MO. James and Nancy are buried in Garland Brook Cemetery in Bartholamew (Sp?)County, Indiana. Only their son Simeon took his family to Platte County.

RE: Collier Family
Jenifer - My great grandfather, Alfred Elder Collier, was a younger brother of Sarah Collier Cole. I've got the family hooked together starting with Alexander and Sarah down to my Dad, Roy Francis Collier. I tried entering a new cemetery and made a mess of it. It's listed as "Robert Collier". I left off the Cemetery. It's in Garrard County, KY and that's where you'll find Alexander. These families are not all complete. I'm waiting on responses to my suggestions on some. I hope this helps, Wilda

RE: 118005565
Jenifer - It has been some time since I worked on my Collier line so I went through my file for Sarah Henry Collier. They both used the middle name Henry exclusively, but the only reference to a Bible I found was on Jesse James' marriage. Dianna had as a reference a photocopy of the Bible record of the marriage. She didn't say who's Bible or where she got it. I've corresponded with a lot of people about the Colliers over the years, but only kept the letters from Clarice and Dianna, so right now I'm not sure who told me about the Bible.

I'm sorry I can't be more help to you, but I still think her middle name is Henry and it's probably her grandmother's maiden name. Wilda

RE: 118005565
Jenifer - I corresponded with two ladies who were descendants of Sarah and John Cole. Clarice Kerr Lugenbeel was an elderly lady living in Washington state in 1996. She was descended from Sarah Ann Collier and Oliver Kerr and had been researching the family for years. She always referred to "Sarah Henry Collier Cole."

The other was Dianna Johnson from Bend, Oregon. Her ancestors were Jesse James Cole and Elcy Caroline Osborn and I corresponded with her in 1995. She wrote "No one has figured out where Sarah Henry Collier got her middle name from. Someone suggested that maybe James Collier's mother's maiden name was Henry"

Have you ever heard of these two? I hope this helps. Wilda
