RE: Lowman cemetery
Thanks for contacting us. You may need to use the photo request on each memorial that you like photoed. This cemetery has been cleaned several times, but currently very over grown. I don't have anybody that would volunteer to do photos for this cemetery during the Summer months with the overgrowth and snakes. We have a few locals that may work on it, but you need to request through Find A Grave photo request.

RE: Del Rio Cemetery
I haven't been to the Del Rio Cemetery. I understand that graves are either unmarked or marked with fieldstones. I noticed the portrait you posted on Find A Grave of Julia. Great. Pleased to see that it's linked to Alexander. Thanks for sharing information with me.

RE: Finchum's of Cocke Co, TN
It's not hard to find. Just follow Finchum Rd. to its end. But signs ("No Trespassing," "Beware of Dog," etc.) near the end are intimidating. The cemetery is on private property. But the owners, Scottie Allen and wife, are friendly (and so are the dogs).

Margaret,
I visited the Finchum Cemetery this past weekend and photographed all of the grave markers. I also did a Find A Grave memorial for James Madison Finchum and attached as much family history as I could. I'm still researching and may need to modify some of what I have.

Yes, Alexander and Julia. Also, I saw a photo of Allen and wife. It's easy to post photos on Find A Grave in electronic format. They would need to be scanned. If you are not equipped to scan them, I can do that. But I'm not sure you would want to put them in the mail to me. I promise you quick return if you decide to do that. If you know someone who can scan these pictures, you can send them to me as e-mail attachments. I have software to crop and enhance photos before posting.

I haven't been to the Finchum Cemetery but may go soon. I saw great photos of your great and great-great grandfathers on ancestry.com. If you know who has these photos, can you get them to post them on their Find A Grave memorials? Or do you have any old family photos you an post? I'll likely be back in touch with you when I learn more, especially after I visit the cemetery.

Margaret, I found a Find A Grave memorial for an Allen Finchum in Greene County. Is this your great-grandfather? If not, does your great-grandfather have a Find A Grave memorial?

Thanks for the info, Margaret. I'll hold on to your message. I plan to do more research on the Finchums when I have time. Last summer I visited graves of Finchums with Cocke County roots in Franklin and Williamson counties. You will find a little history in the cutline of the photo I took for Poke Finchum (#14485604) and the memorial for Joe Finchum (#130367683). So far, I have been unable to make some of the earlier family connections. What you've shared with me, I think, will be helpful.

As far as maintaining? Just make corrections and additions to a memorial as necessary. That's about it.

I am also a volunteer to go take photos of stones in my area for those who cannot do so. Right now I am photographing an entire cemetery of over 3000. A good winter project when the weather permits.
