I have been researching cemeteries in Harlan County for the past few years and researching my family history for about 25 years.

My family research is mostly on the Cloverfork Area of Harlan Co. KY, and Barbourville, Knox Co., KY.
My genealogy lines are Kelly, Parker, Huff, Caudill, Crider, Day, Kinder, McDonald and Davis.

I have recently published a book on the cemeteries we have located on the Clover Fork area it covers about 130 cemeteries.

"Cemeteries on the Clover Fork Southeastern Harlan County Kentucky"

We are researching all the cemeteries in all of Harlan County.

William and Virginia King
many thanks for the photo of William and Virginia King's headstone located in the Middleton Cemetery. Virginia was my great-aunt. I never met her but heard my parents mention her on many occasions, always in a favorable sense. Now I can add the photo to my family tree, adding another fact for future generations. Tom Bailey

Bailey Cemetery
Hi Bobbie, I was wondering if you knew of a Bailey Cemetery around Clover Fork KY. My 3rd Gr. Grandfather Andrew J. Bailey was buried there, but when we visited the area could not find it. On his memorial (#111584192 ) there is a document I found at the state archives, that says that he is buried in Bailey Cemt. near Cloversplint. I talked to the military historian in Frankfort KY. and was told there use to be a Cloversplint, but is no more, and they had no record of a Bailey Cemt. in that area. Andrew's last place of residence was Leonard, Harlan Co. KY. (there are records to confirm this) I know that a lot of times they are buried on their own land, which I believe this might be the case in this situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks from Sherry

RE: Fields & Day Cemetery
I'm sorry, but I do not have the directions for cemeteries in Harlan County. I submitted all the memorials in the country from cemetery lists.
It you will contact BRIAN CAUDILL #48482664 I am sure he could tell you about the cemetery locations. He has taken and contributed many photos in the cemeteries in the county.

RE: Cemetery Book
Hi Bobbie,

I wanted to let you know that I got the $40 check in the mail to you this morning. It should be there no later than this time next week.

Thank you for adding the corrections and index for the book.

RE: Cemetery Book

I am definitely interested. It is getting late tonight, but I will send you a follow up confirmation later this week once I get the check in the mail.

Also, take a look at the link on my Find a Grave page at the bottom of my bio. I also wrote a book and published through This a much much more cost effective way to publish your work than going through a standard publisher. My book is a hard back. Amazon offers a similar service (it looks like it is now called CreateSpace... it was something different when I published my book). I found LULU to be a better service at the time I published. You can order as many or as few books as you would like.

Talk to you soon,

Cemetery Book

I would be interested in the book that you and your brother wrote on the cemeteries in the Clover Fork area of Harlan. Is this available for sale?

RE: Leon & Lola Mae Craig
Hi Bobbie,

Thank you so much for posting those pictures! It is greatly appreciated. I actually thought I had walked that entire cemetery in order to find those 2 specific headstones, but was unable to find them back in 2010. I left the cemetery believing that neither one of them had a headstone placed on their grave site.

Thank you so very much!

Happy Easter!
