I came across Find-A-Grave when I was researching my family tree. I've found it to be a great resource. There's nothing like looking at a gravestone to realize that that person really did exist! Also, people who can't physically visit a cemetery find it comforting to be able to visit the memorials on this site. |
I've visited many local cemeteries and am a photo volunteer. Adding photos and memorials is a bit addicting I've found. I am happy to transfer memorials to relatives as that's where I believe they should be.
I'm particularly interested in the people who homesteaded in NW North Dakota, as well as my own family. I am researching the Zimmerman, Nygaard, Glasoe, Holte, Wollan and Roness families.
Please feel free to use my photos in your geneologies. That's why I take them...

I find that you have entered Helge Liahagen into the Grace Cemetery, Wildrose, ND.
I have documented Helge Liahagen as being buried in the Zion Cemetery, McGregor, ND. This is how
he is listed in our cemetery book.
Can I ask why you have entered him into Wildrose?

Delete? No, I don't believe there would be anything I would want you to delete.
I've been noodling around & have found some errors (and so far, I've only looked at Grandma's connections) on Ancestry trees. Your photos may be what helps those errors get corrected.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for the help - I'm guessing I'll be 'hitting you up' again sometime!

Hey - I just did a big photo session on my quick visit home.
When I returned to Texas, I saw that you'd added some pics for 'my' family - thanks!
I'm still feeling my way around here. How can I add the photos I'd like to add to my own family members?

So, I went to the cemetery at noon today already to identify graves and take pictures. The man in the office was extremely rude and abrasive. I tried to explain to him that I was a local historian just trying to do a favor for someone out of state. He would have none of it. He basically said that he's in charge and refuses to give out details to anyone but family and even then charges $20 just to look up the information. When I asked for his name he said 'Robert, AND DON'T FORGET MY NAME." I tried my best to break through his brash exterior, but was unsuccessful. I will try again, another day when someone else is staffing the front office.
The funny thing is, that the local historical society (The Queen Anne Historical Society (http://www.qahistory.org/mc-events/mt-pleasant-cemetery-tour/?mc_id=67) are doing a tour of the cemetery in a couple of weeks - so there must be SOME friendly people on staff at the cemetery. Just not him.
I'll see what I can do.

I just 'accepted' a photo request for a grave your requested. I was also able to locate the Washington State death record for the same. You can view that at the link below. I'll let you know when I've taken the photo.

Thank you for taking and uploading this photo. This is my mother's oldest sister, who she knew about but never meet. They were born exactly 15 years apart (same birth date). My mother is now the last living child in the family. She's widowed and lives with me and my husband (she has full blown dementia).
Again, thank you!
