Peggy went back through the letters that she had and there wasn't any additional information to share.

RE: Granville Malone's
I think we've gotten all of the information that Peggy has to share.

RE: Granville Malone's
Thanks for the update. Looks like Peggy's information was of some help.

I passed along your note to her, in part as an additional way to thank her for the information. I'll let you know how Peggy responds.

RE: Granville Malone's
Here is the email I just received from Peggy. I'm sorry, but it doesn't seem to include what you are looking for:

"Hi Bob,
I am so sorry it took so long to get back to you. When I was doing research for my book, I asked my mother to ask any Irish group she was in whether they had any Irish immigrant letters I could use in my research. She was with the Shalvoys at one time and her first cousin, Anne Shalvoy Graham (Charles Shalvoy and Alice McHenry Shalvoy's daughter), said, yes, she had letters she could share with me. The letters were from Anne's grandmother, Mary Malone McHenry, to her parents in Ballygub,County Kilkenny, Ireland. Their names, and specific addresses, are not mentioned in the letters. Mary's brother, Dan Malone, lived with her family in Middle Granville NY for several years. He married a Mary from their hometown. Sometime between Dec 1873 and March 26, 1876, Dan took off for Iron Mt., St. Francis County, Missouri (where he had a friend from Ireland). He later sent for his wife. Dan remained in Iron Mt. until at least 1881, but by August 1884, he was living in Chicago, Ill. The last mention the McHenry info. has on him dates to Jan 25, 1885 when he was living in Chicago and working for Armour meat packing.

Many Irish (and Welsh) immigrants went to the Granville area to work in slate. (The Slate Valley Museum is located in Granville.) So the Malones and McHenrys were not unusual in the area. Many McHenrys still live in the area, and the church graveyard is filled with McHenry memorials. After I published my book, I planned to do a case study of the McHenrys as Irish immigrants in the country (since the Irish are so associated with cities) and so began some research. Life, however, got in the way.
Hope all is well with you.
All the best,
Peggy"

Peggy does remember the interest in the contents of the letters. She said she hasn't forgotten. We must be respectful of her being very busy and I'm sure that she will get to it as soon as she can. So I don't want to pass along your email address, as that would be pushing more than I can to, given that we are asking a big favor from her.

Yes, Peggy is back from vacation. But she just had a new grandchild (on April 20th) and so I'm sure that things are a bit nuts right now for her.

I'll remind her of our interest in the parents of Mary Malone.

RE: Malone
I just got a short email from Peggy. She has a collection of letters from Mary Malone McHenry and will share some more information on these when she returns home. She got these from Anne Shalvoy Graham, who is a granddaughter of Mary Malone McHenry. So more to come, perhaps.

RE: Malone
I did send Peggy an email, asking for any details she has on the parents of Mary Malone. But Peggy is traveling right now and may not be able to respond quickly.

RE: Malone
Thanks so much for pointing me to the book with the reference to Mary Malone McHenry. As it turns out, my third cousin Peggy wrote that book!

RE: Granville - Malone's
We haven't done any research into the ancestors of Mary Malone. We don't even have the names of her parents. I'm sorry that we can't be any help in your investigating her Malone ancestors.
