RE: William Allison Crews Thank you for answering my message. I'm a descendant of the same "Crews" that William Allison is. I believe that William Allison Crews was Moravian--as many of them are now. But it didn't start out like that. I think some of them married into Moravian families and became Moravians themselves in later years.
There was a time that many of them were also Quakers, had come from Virginia, and were of English descent.
I'm pretty sure that Hendrix was the right name for Nettie.
William Allison Crews I'm sorry. I messed up yesterday when I said that William Allison Crews was my gr-gr-grandfather's brother. He would have been a nephew to my gr-gr-grandfather. James W. Crews was my gr-gr-grandfather's brother, and also the father of William Allison Crews.
The other, older William A. Crews was a brother to both James W. and Charles Edward Crews. But he was born around 1817, and I have no idea when or where that one died. I got the two Williams mixed up.
But I'm still interested in that family. So if you have any interesting info or old pictures, I would really love to see them. I have pictures of Charles Edward Crews and as many of his family members as I could come up with on Find A Grave. I'd love to see more pictures of that family. This has always been really interesting to me.
Do you know if it's the same for her parents??? I also have them in Salem Moravian Cemetery. William A. Crews was an older brother by two years to my gr-gr-grandfather, Charles Edward Crews. I believe I got the info from the death certificates---or from an old obituary. But sometimes it isn't clear whether it's just Salem Cemetery or Salem Moravian.
This is very interesting!! Would you have any more info or pictures of some of these old timers that you could add to their Find A Grave entries??? I've been wondering about William and his descendants for years. You're the first one of his line that has contacted me.
