Researching my family lineage, as well as my husbands, is of great interest and importance to me. I appreciate any information learned from the persons on this site and look forward to sharing any information I can provide to you as well! |
I continuously collect information from cemetery walking and am compiling it with our family bibles and in hand documents we have been privileged to receive. Every piece of information I gather and share is from personally walking cemeteries, photographing, and having physical paperwork with the information I submit.
I am a Davis/Goowdwin/Huntley/Grooms. My husband is a Vogler/Rothwell/Young/Bentley. Our family's have been in Adams County since it was a territory.
If you see that I have made an error, or have information to additionally provide, please let me know by using the edit tab!
You are welcome to use any photo I have published for your family trees.

I did just check my records for a death certificate to see where it said burial was. I don't have one for John, but Sarah's does say IOOF Cemetery. But I did photograph this stone myself, in Tranquility Cemetery, on May 15, 2002. These do look like newer stones, so perhaps the Tranquility Cem ones are false memorial/duplicate stones? Do the stones at West Union look older? I am happy to change the location on the entry and include both photos with some kind of note about how we figured this out (so others won't have this same problem!), if we can figure out which one is right. It is sounding like your IOOF ones are correct, since that is what Sarah's death certificate says. It never occurred to me to look elsewhere when I saw the stones there.

That is a bit of a conundrum. I just checked my records to make sure that I did in fact visit this cemetery myself. Some of the Shupert records we got from my husband's grandfather. But I have a record of us actually visiting it, so I know we saw these stones for ourselves there in Tranquility. I wonder if the stone in one or the other location is a memorial stone instead? I'm not saying which is right. I would be happy for you to add your photos as well under the memorial, just say that they are in the other cemetery. Or add them separately under that cemetery if you want. I'm not really sure what would be the best way to handle it.

Thank you so much for providing the burial information. In that county, there are West Union and West Union Village Cemeteries. I put both of their burials in the first cemetery. If this is not correct, could you please let me know?
