Bio and Links
Bio Photo I teach Geography and live in Texas. I got started on my family history journey in the 1990s and young children and work got in the way. I still work, but my kids are grown and I pick up the search when I can. I love cemeteries and researching. I can't wait until I retire and can really be involved. My earliest ancestor in the U.S. I can link to was a Quaker and arrived in the 1680s -- a Routledge from Scotland. My other branch came much later from Germany to Indianola in 1853. I love the puzzles, I love when I unravel a new clue. Happy Climbing!!

J Schramm
Hi Linda,

Unfortunately, I do not know much info regarding this individual. Not even if J. is a male or female. I obtained the info from church burial records and in 1857, the church did not include very much info. There are other Schramm burials at the same cemetery. I would suggest taking a look at the other burials there to see if any other family members are located there. You can also call the cemetery and see if they possibly have a more detailed record of the individual. The phone number is 414 438 4420. I hope this helps. Feel free to keep in touch and I can see what I can do to help on my end.

Kind Regards,

RE: Schramm
Could be Gustav H Scheel who married Emilie's daughter Thusnelda. He was born 24 Aug 1862 and died 27 Sep 1929. Any record to match these dates?

RE: Schramm
Hi Linda

Teddy Crusius was a son of Emilie. He married Lina Meyer - a great aunt of mine. So their descendants are blood related.

I remember Teddy from when I was young so I went up his tree a little but technically the Schramm's are not related.

Emilie was an author or sorts I believe - which fit into her husband's newspaper business.

I have more on her on ancestry at:

Glad you found this.

Yours, Eric

RE: Marriage Cert
It would have been Campbell Co, Ky. I see them listed on the Campbell Co, KY clerk site. I just didn't think that the Hamilton County lady would do that. Awesome that she did. I have not seen the actual cert. But i have the book and page number. Thanks.

RE: last one promise
Daughter Amelia married Ernst Arthur Behn on June 2, 1914 at St John UCC in Newport. Have not found her death date/burial.

RE: George Kaul
I could not find Charles & Susan (Reed) Kaul's marriage cert on the Hamilton Co, Ohio site. I see a Newport marriage bond that agrees with the church record. Just curious

RE: George Kaul
I bet that the daughter Amelia was being raised in one faith and upon the parents divorce, she was rebaptized. the other thought is that some Protestant parents preferred the child to make the decision to be baptized when they were ready to do so.

RE: George Kaul
The Hamilton County records are awful. I had the benefit of at least looking at some of my direct line on the original paper. that was before they were digitized. I did not see Amelia and Charles marriage bann under any spelling. So I had a heads up. If they married Caholic, there would be banns. I did look on the St Mary cemetery in Alexandria list on the Gen web and sis not see Susan's name there under either last name. Wonder if it was mistranscribed. I also saw what you posted on ancestry. I will look for a census tomorrow for Amelia. the church death record matched her only having one child.

George Kaul
I found a Silver Grove School in Campbell Co (near Cold Spring) in 1911 with a student with that name and the correct birthday. With Susie Kaul as parent. So they were together the year after the father's death:

Kaul, George 27 Apr 1901 10 Susie Kaul

Sorry to fill up your inbox. I needed a challenge today.

I just had an out of the box thought: It could be possible that Charles Kaul was a bigamist. Amelia is listed as WIFE of the late Charles Kaul in the church record-NOT as divorced from him. He was "married" to Susie Ried in 1898. Thoughts?
