|John H. Lawson||Photos|
I saw your email and sent you some photos. If your family has photos to share, I would appreciate seeing them.
|John H. Lawson||Rebecca "Becky" M Payne #2|
I just reread your question and I didn't answer about the Cherokee relationship.
I was also told by my Mom that Rebecca was Cherokee. I haven't found any records on the Dawes Rolls or otherwise to prove that she was indeed Cherokee. Photos of my Great Grandmother look as though she was Indian but again I could find no records to show she was Indian.
Sorry, I can't help in this area.
If you would give me your email address, I have some family photos. I would be happy to share.

Rebecca "Becky" M Payne is my 2nd Great Grandmother too. My Great Grandmother was Emma Bee Pool. Starling Lee Pool was her brother.
Rebecca M Payne was born 12 August 1844 at Cherokee, Alabama to John H Payne (1798-1871) and Francis Hall (1805-1850). She had three sisters and two brothers.
She married our 2nd Great Grandfather, James Wesley Pool (1834-1889) in 1867 at Crawley Ridge, Arkansas. They lived in Hunt, Scott County, Arkansas. They had 9 children.
James Wesley Pool was a Confederate Veteran, 8th Regiment Missouri Cavalry. He served with his brothers John W Pool and George W Pool.
In 1904, She married Ralph "Rafe" Parker. Mr. Parker, ironically, was a Union Veteran, serving in Company E, 3rd Arkansas Cavalry. He was born in 1845, but I have no death date for him. (His headstone doesn't have a date.)
If you use ancestry.com, I have more information about the family there.
Hope this helps,
