I've been looking into my families histories for some time. And I have found alot of them on this site. The main ones I look for are Rowe,Reynolds,Douglas,Dorton,Estep,Patterson and Humphrys. And they are from Ohio,North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia,West Virginia,Texas. And I also look for some of my husband's Family James,Rook,Hopper,Morris, Mills. I think they are all from Tennessee.

Sssg. John L Dorton
I saw a memorial you placed for John L. Dorton 386th BG 554 Squadron. B=26 marauders. KIA 2-10-44 with all aboard except Pilot 1st Lt. Robert B. Spencer POW. I noticed you referred to him as Uncle Lars. I would suppose that refers to his middle initial?
My Uncle , Robert B. Spencer was the pilot of the plane that was lost. Sgt. Dorton was a waist gunner on this crew, also called an armorer. From what I can find out he was a great shot. He had a couple confirmed kills of German FW-190 Focke Wulf fighters. He is a REAL hero.

Woodland
Hello there. I'll be making a trip to Woodland again after I hit the library. I found Charles Floyd listed to be there, just need to find the area. I also listed your grandfather Find A Grave Memorial# 105721872 and attatched his death certificate. I also linked Arlie Patterson Rowe, which from all the info I found online and from other relations, is that she changed her name to Helen when she married a man by the name of Trujillo. Interesting.. someone also has multiple pictures of the two of them, even with 2 children all over ancestry.com. Hope you can get to see them if you haven't already. Carrie

RE: Rowe
Hi Deana, glad you found the memorial for Soloman Rowe. He is my husbands 1st cousin 4x removed. I ran across his grave by accident. We've been researching the Rowes in Lawrence Co for a while & I try to list any I find. I will be going back to the local library in a few weeks & will look for Charles Floyd for you. I'm compiling a list, as it is a large cemetery and there are lots of Rowe's.

So far I've found Solomons father, at least 1 sister & 2 of his brothers ended up this way. And they all had large families.

Regards,
Carrie
