Thanks for your interesting comments. I simply photographed the cemetery, so I don't know whether the stone indicates actual remains beneath the soil or not. His mother died in 1975, though, and is buried here, so if his remains were recovered in '65, it's likely she would have had him interred here as well. My uncle served on the WASP, and was on it (or rather, in a life boat beside it!) at the time it was blown up. I'd be happy to have more info.
