|I have been interested in genealogy my entire life, but became serious about it around 1980. Most of my family emigrated to Dundas County (and many lived their entire lives there). I have an extensive database of Dundas County families, including several UEL branches. |
Research interests include: Johns(t)on, Black, Durant, McIntosh, Colquhoun, Robinson, Weegar, Brown, Wells, Sargeant, Toye, Casselman, Merkley, Kyle, Warren, Schwerdtfeger, Marcellus, Link, Whittaker, Deeks, Loucks, Rombough, Barkley, Weaver, Louden, etc.

|Judy Rudek||Re: Peter Whitteker|
Regarding Peter Whitteker (memorial #101707695).
I am pretty sure you have your dates wrong. You have Peter being born in 1881 and dying in 1943, while his spouse Margaretha (memorial #101707791) lived 1770 - 1836.
|David Rice||RE: Dundas County cemeteries and families|
Yes David one one of my family members, he was my great grandfather's brother ,My great grandfather was John Philip Rice Jr. They were both the son's of John Philip Rice Sr and his wife Margaret Wallace, also of Dundas County.
Have wanted to find out more about this David but he has been a dead end, tried to find a obit but never had any luck. I know that he died in Aug 1902 but that is about it. I believe one of his daughters (Elizabeth?) married a Martin Blondin whose family is buried in St Mary's church cemetery. David and Emma I believe are buried in MT pleasnt cemetery? Have also heard there are two other unmarked Rice plots but no luck finding who is buried there? Maybe John Sr and wife margaret?

|CVal||RE: John Black|
Where you would like me to send it? I don't see a memorial for her linked to John's memorial.

I walked the entire cemetery (It's only about half a city block in size) and I saw only one person with the surname Black. It was Jannette Aiken Black, daughter of George P. Kellogg. Another surname in the group of headstones was Landon.
Dates for Janette are May 16, 1879 to April 10, 1953. I will be happy to transmit my photos to you if they will be helpful in your quest.
I saw no other Blacks in the cemetery, although some of the headstones have fallen over or are unreadable.
I was at the local public library to reference the cemetery listing, but that book was missing from the genealogy room at the library.
Best of luck,

|Shirley Hackett||RE: Photo of Moses Durant's stone|
You are most welcome Kathryn.
There are two headstone close to Moses of interest--one for his son Noah I think (the name portion is no longer there, but the date of death matches Noah's date on several on line family trees), and just a few feet away is Hester Durant Lennox, who I believe is Moses' sister.
I got photos--not great, but photos. I tried to send you the details by email at the address I had for you from last year, but it bounced. I thought maybe you would like to make those memorials yourself, then I'll add the photos.
If you want to do that, send me your email address through any of my memorials.
|sharlean wilson||RE: CAPT JACOB WEEGAR|
Thanks for responding to this. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Are both the cemeteries I mentioned still there in Riverside Heights and Pioneer Upper Canada Village Cemetery? We live in Massena NY and Richard worked for St Lawrence Seaway for 42 years. My email is email@example.com.
|sharlean wilson||RE: CAPT JACOB WEEGAR|
Thanks for answering my email. Richard Weegar is my friend and Jacob Weegar is also his 4x great grandfather.No, he didn't know Jacob Weegar was a soldier at all. Richard thought he was the first Weegar to go in the Army.(Viet Nam). He would like any other info about Jacob if you have any. He was very pleased with the info you gave me. We are planning on going over to Canada to visit the grave sites at St Johns Lutheran Church and Pioneer Upper Canada Village tomorrow. Thanks for your help!
|sharlean wilson||CAPT JACOB WEEGAR|
