James B Hilley
Judy,

Good to hear from you. I am actually related to the wives James B. Hilley and William E. Hilley. They are sisters in case you didn't know. Their father died during the Civil War and their married a Cook who moved the family from Pike County Georgia to Jackson Co. Alabama. A few years ago, a cousin of mine tracked down a Hilley descendant in Alabama and went over to visit them. They had a picture of the Harris sisters father although they did not know is name. They knew him only as "Grandpa Harris". I have a copy of the picture if you would like it. They also had a picture of the the two sisters together when they were older in age but it was not good quality so I don't have it scanned. If you are interested, I might see if my cousin still has a copy.

Their fathers name was Benjamin Josiah Harris. He enlisted as a Private in Company I, 53rd Georgia Infantry. He fought at Second Manassas and Antietam and died in Camp near Fredericksburg Virginia of unknown causes on Nov. 27, 1862. So you and I are cousins. I am descended from Benjamin Josiah Harris younger brother Henry Clay Harris. I have a picture of Henry Clay Harris, Benjamin Josiah Harris, one of the sisters between the two, and the youngest sister.

Benjamin Josiah Harris was the son of Benjamin E. Harris and Susan Pyron of Pike Co. Ga. Benjamin E. Harris was the son of Wilmot Egerton Harris and his wife Catherine Morris who moved down to Greene Co. Ga from Warren County NC between 1804 and 1809. Wilmot is the Great Grandson of Thomas Harris who died testate in Isle of Wight County Virginia in 1688

There is a Harris family Cemetery in Pike County. We ha dedication for it this past April. Benjamin E. Harris and Susan Pyron Harris are buried there. There is a off chance although unlikely that Benjamin Josiah Harris is buried there as well.

I also have a picture of Benjamin Josiah Harris' mother Susan Pyron Harris which would be your 3rd Great Grandmother I believe if you are interested. I will transfer the memorial to you as you are closer related than I am. Send me an email if you want any of the photos.
