Correction needed.
Jacob Harper was born in Virginia, in an area which later became Pendleton County, West Virginia, just before the Civil War. West Virginia did not exist in 1780 !!!

RE: Armenta Wickson Shilling Adams
Thanks, Cousin Kathy!

I am going to try again to research Peggy Null. Perhaps she was Margaret Tedor (birth) Null (married), because after all, she was 25 when she and Asa Wickson posted their marriage bond in 1833. She signed that document as Peggy Null. She was also listed on the 1832 Texas Tax Rolls as Peggy Null. It would be rare in those frontier circumstances for an unmarried woman to be listed as a property owner, so she may indeed have been a widow. But, no indication of "Tedor" anywhere, that I have ever been able to find, except those times that she has been listed that way on FamilySearch. But there are no sources attached to document it.

But, I am quite sure that Arminta's name was Arminta, not Arimenta or Ariminta or any of the other versions of her name, because this is the way she was always referred to in my (our) family. I am descended from her son James Melvin Shilling, who lived with my mother's family (George Melvin Shilling/Celia Jewell Kegans; my mother is Elva Jewell Shilling Lane) for most of her childhood, until he died in 1949 (I was born in 1951).

Armenta Wickson Shilling Adams
Hi, Kathy,

I am very interested in any documentation you have that Armenta's (not Arimenta, by the way, just Armenta) mother's name was Margaret Null Tedor. All of the research that I have been able to do indicates only that her name was Margaret "Peggy" Null. Margaret Null is the name given on her marriage license to Asa Wickson, Armenta's father.

Many thanks,
Meredith Lane
(Armenta's 2g grand-daughter).

Lattie Harper Memorial
I transferred Lattie to you. I knew Linda at GCSHS and my best friend in high school was Donna Harper, a cousin to your mother. Donna's father was Richard. I have tried to link all of Clark's and Richard's ancestors on Find A Grave and it has become extensive. Enjoy. At Athonies Mill when some of the Harper boys would come home late Saturday night and had too much to drink, grandma would wait until they went to sleep and then she would get the horse whip and use it on them.

Jacob Harper Memorial
Thanks Kathy. I'm glad you are able to take on the task of updating the memorial. It's unfortunate when misinformation is perpetuated from one site to another. We all benefit when proven and sourced data is provided. Thanks for doing this for all of us who will benefit from your research. Mary

Jacob Harper Memorial
Thanks for your email. I agree the memorial, that was transferred to me by the person who originated it, is filled with inconsistencies. I am transferring it to you in the hope that you will be able to update it with accurate, well documented genealogy information. Mary

I show he was also married first to Emma Azalee Yarbro in 1877 and had a son Joseph Lindly. Doo you have anything on this?

Armenty Adams
I don't know what you are referring to. The photo on Armenty Adams site was not added by me and I have not taken photos from other sites. If my name appears on the photos, I have no idea how they got there. As far as the information on the entry, unless information is copyrighted, it's public domain. If I did copy information from another site for the entry, it's to make sure that people have more access to ancestors' information. If you think this is incorrect, let me know which entries you feel I've "stolen" and I'll transfer them to you, if you are a relative.
