I discovered Find A Grave some time ago while doing a Google search for my sister who passed away in 1987 and was pleasantly surprised to see her memorial page. |
I then began doing genealogy several years ago and have found many of my relatives' graves here, many of which are in other states that I would not otherwise be able to visit. It has brought some comfort to leave my virtual flowers on my loved ones graves.
One of the first things people ask when they find out where we live is "How can you stand to live next to a graveyard?" To which my husband & I reply "We have VERY quiet neighbors!" The profile photo is what we see when we step out our back door.
Anyone can visit a cemetery and take a photo and therefore it is not important to me to claim a right to a CEMETERY/HEADSTONE photo we have taken, especially if it is your family member and not ours. Our HEADSTONE/CEMETERY photos are available for your personal use such as adding to your Ancestry tree. PLEASE ASK BEFORE USING ANY PERSONAL PHOTOS OF PERSONS ON MEMORIALS-THANK YOU

Oh, you helped tremendously! Thank you very much for this information. Don't know what I can do with it, but I will certainly try.

I hope you are well.
I was looking for the burial place of a man who was age 74 and an inmate at the NC Infirmary in 1920. I was unable to locate him anywhere else, including with his wife in Greenwood in Wilson. I noticed that several of the 12 memorials in the infirmary cemetery were yours, and was wondering if, by any chance, you knew if there were any records of burials there. I expect there were a lot more than 12 burials, but the question is whether there's any way to find out about the other folks. I would really appreciate any information you might be able to give me, even if it's to say you don't know anything else.
Thanks so much.

Thanks for your reply.
I have finished photographing the entire cemetery, and have posted memorials for the folks who didn't already have one. I will be adding the photos over the winter. Right now, I have very poor internet access, but will have cable in a couple weeks. Some of my photos will not turn out well, because of the lighting and the condition of the stones. If you have a photo that's better than any of mine, please let me know, and I'll take mine down.

I hope you are doing well.
I was at Mountain Ridge Cemetery today, looking for some relatives. While there, I took a bunch of extra photos because I knew this is a much larger cemetery than the number of memorials on Find-A-Grave would suggest. I was intending to go back and take some more photos, but I found that many of the ones I took were ones that you had just posted in August. I was wondering if you were doing this whole cemetery. If you are, I'll concentrate on others.
Thanks for your work here!

|William Taber||Leon J Taber memorial # 77735162|
Yes, I am very distantly related.
Leon was my 7th cousin, 3x removed. Our common Taber ancestor was the immigrant Philip Taber.
I very much appreciate the obit you provided, and I have updated the memorial. I note the publication date of October 30, 1945, and that the day of publication was a Tuesday. The text indicates he died on Tuesday morning, so I am presuming this indicates the 30th as his death date. If my presumption is incorrect, please let me know. Also, if you happen to have Leon's birth date, I would be glad to update his memorial with that as well.
