Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am descended from families of John Winthrop's Fleet of 1630 and have ancestors that have served in King Philips War, the Indian Wars, the American Revolution and the Civil War. Have been researching my family for over a decade and am just getting into the Irish side of the family. I have a special interest in the Civil War and have been researching African American veterans of that war.

Hello. Thanks for adding this memorial. Pvt Josiah Still, Co H [don't think there was a Co M], 3rd Regiment, USCI, is my ancestor. He died 22 Nov 1934.

RE: Thanks/USCT vets
No problem. I don't like to see CW veterans with the "unknown/unknown" dates. I know why it happens (the dates aren't inscribed), but when I see them - I usually stop and do some research.

I get the impression that the OVH Cemetery could benefit from some administrative help. I've been researching a similar cemetery in King, WI.

If you are looking for interesting USCT stories, this may be one: James Smith #146552400. He was designated as a Sharpshooter and assigned to the Division Sharpshooter Company for much of his enlistment. Unless I'm mistaken, this was a very rare designation for any soldier and even more rare for a USCT troop. I just don't have the time to research further.

Except for a handful of 'hard cases', I've finished the updates at the OVHC.

Hi, I saw that you posted a GAR photo on the memorial of Augustus Stone. I was wondering how you came across that photograph and whether or not you have access to any other photographic or other information related to this veteran. Thanks!!!

Francis B Potter
Hi. I noticed that you uploaded a photo of Francis B Potter onto his Find A Grave memorial. I thought that you might be closely related to him, since you had a nice photo of him. I am researching this Potter family. My family descends from Edward Potter, who was Francis Potter's younger brother. If you are closely related to Francis and know anything about his family, I would love to ask you a few questions. I have a photo from a Potter family gathering from 1915. I think that there are 3 Potter brothers in that photo. Maybe one of them is Francis. If you think you could identify him or any of them, my email address is erutmcnally@yahoo.com. Send me an email and I will send you the picture.

Thanks,
Elaine McNally

RE: Re: Harrison Comings
I found one more famous Worcester police inspector that you might have. Reuben M. Colby who died in 1893.

Thank you
