I no longer live near Indianapolis so I will not be able to assist you. I'm currently living in Michigan.

You are very welcome! Thank you for your kind words.

If Frank Scherer was in the US military I believe you can put in an application for a headstone - which is provided free of charge for veterans.

Another Find-A-Grave member provided me with this information:

"As you may know, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible Veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death."

If this is an option, it may help offset the cost especially if you are on a limited income.

Be well and best of luck in finding an appropriate marker for the site!

RE: Frank Richard Scherer
Please contact me again after your relatives have been to the cemetery and marked the site, also let me know what they use for a marker. :)

I will be glad to swing by and take a photo of the plot.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Take care.

Hi,

I was back at Rock Creek today and, unfortunately, did not find a marker for Frank. There are large areas of unmarked graves in Section W-A. I even searched for others buried in the same plot, surnames of Anthonon, Leyland and Stone. I could not find headstones for any of them.

Here are the section/lot records:

If you would like me to go and take a photo of the plot location after it has been marked, please let me know, I am close and can do it easily.

Take care!

Hi,

It is always sad when you're told that a relative is in an unmarked grave. I'm sorry.

I do see section WA on the cemetery map, so i can take a stab at finding a stone. Could you possibly resend the photo request with the updated Section and Lot info?

Hi Pat,

I have transferred your mother and father to your care.

The easiest way to request a transfer is to use the edit tab in the upper right hand corner of the memorial. From there you click "Suggest a correction". A box will pop up and you request the transfer. Find A Grave will send an email to the memorial creator with all the information needed to make the transfer in about 10 seconds!

When the transfer is complete then you are the owner of the memorial. Only you can add or subtract information on the memorial. Anyone can post photos.

Please let me know if I have any other family member. I will happily make the transfers. I believe family belongs with family.

Best regards,
Donna Thomas

Hi Pat. Unfortunately, Elizabeth's grave is unmaked. I have created a memorial for her husband Fred (1871-1928) who is buried beside her.
