Bio and Links
I am interested in Read, Hatch, Howes, Kavanagh and Kidder family histories.

I grew up in Downers Grove/Lisle Illinois area where my mother's gr grandfather, Luther Hatch and his brother James C. became the first settlers (of Lisle) in 1832. The Hatch brothers immigrated from Alstead NH via Lodi MI. The Hatches of Alstead immigrated from Falmouth MA in the 1690's via Tolland CT from the 1720's-1770's. The first Hatches in our line arrived in Salem, Mass from England in 1634.

The Reeds came from Derry Ireland to Topsham, Maine around 1720. Children of William Reed moved to the Orono area around 1808 (and changed their name to Read). William Read's great grandson, Dr. Ambrose M. Read, moved to Chicago around 1856.

RE: Read Family at Bethania
You had written:

"Chris.

I was wondering if you would allow transfer of the above family of four consisting of Blatchford, Auguste, Wilbur and Ruth Read.

Blatchford was my grandfather and I would like to add and bios for he and his wife, add GPS coordinates etc. My uncle Willie, who lived with us when he died, would also be appreciated.

As you can see from the site, I have already added photos."

If you have added photos and updates to non-direct relatives, I will transfer. For direct relatives I will also transfer. Please use the "Edit"/"Suggest A Correction" from any memorial you are requesting the transfer.

Luther Hatch photo request
I was going to fullfill your request for a photo of the grave site but notice you already have one posted. Do you want another grave site picture?

Illinois GAR Post #522
Hi - I came across your contact info from the memorial page for Edwin Howe. Could you help me out with some info about the GAR Post 522 Yorkville, Illinois photo of the reunion from Memorial Day, 1911.
I understand the people in the photo were members of Co K, 20th Illinois Infantry. I came across the name of "Alexander Patterson" - included in the picture (standing, 5th from the left). However, when I do further research about the Company and infantry, I don't come across his name in any list. Alexander Patterson would have resided in Michigan - so he probably could have enlisted in this Illinois company of the war. If you have any further info about this picture, I would sincerely appreciate any thing you could offer. Many thanks in advance.

RE: Edward Payson Hatch
My great-grandfather, James Bruce McCampbell, was a sergeant in Co. B, 33rd Illinois Infantry. In a trunk of his belongings were 30 photographs of his comrades in Company B. I entered the pictures of those whose burial sites I could find on Findagrave.
I'm not a relative, but I would like to read his letters.
Also, I would be happy to transfer his Memorial to you.
Sincerely,
Marjorie McCampbell Etchell
