Thanks, I will copy the pics and add them to my files.
I have traced our Gutierrez line to about 1750 in Camargo, Tamaulipas Mexic, starting with Tomas Gutierrez and his wife Juana Francisca De La Garza.
Tomas and Juana Francisca were the parents of Jacinto Gutierrez who married Maria Silvestra Canales from Revilla (Guerrero), Tamaulipas, Mexico on October 26, 1826. Jacinto was a soldier with the 1st Permanent Company of Tamaulipas stationed in Laredo, Texas for four years at the time he and Silvestra married in Laredo, Texas.
Jacinto and Silvestra were the parents of Eugenio Gutierrez who was born in Laredo Texas about the time of the Battle of the Alamo. Eugenio's gravestone indicates his birth year as 1834, however, his baptism is dated 1936. I place more value on the date on the baptism record since it is the earliest documented record I have found.
Eugenio married Maria Nicolasa San Miguel Garcia from Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on May 14 1859 in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Eugenio and Nicolasa are the parents of Maria Luz, Andrea, and 10 other children I can account for. Family story indicates they had 14 children.
There is a very interesting family story on our Gutierrez ancestors, but when I researched it, it turned out to be an embellishment from another Gutierrez descendant who was also working on the family tree. That story was "truth" for more than 25 years until I disproved it while trying to prove it.
The Garcia surname is not in your direct line, but I have traced it to Felipe Garcia and Eusebia Gonzalez circa 1720 in Los Botellos, Nuevo Leon. Felipe was a coyote (1/2 Indian and 1/2 meztiso, Eusebia was meztisa.
As far as the Perez surname, I don't have much information. I can only go back as far as the parents of Espiridion who were Antonio Perez and Antonia Cantu, both born about 1855.
When you send the other pics to my personal email, I will send you genealogy reports that I have in PDF by reply email, if you like.
Unfotunately, I don't have any old photos except those of my grandgfather David Garcia husband of Andrea Gutierrez); my parents, Israel Garcia & Ada Mandel; and some of my dad's siblings.
I have nothing on the Gutierrez side. Would you mind if I copied the photos you posted on Find A Grave? I would like to add them to my records.
We used to live across the street from Dora, Leonor, and Rene in Alice. The last time I saw them was 1959 when we moved to west Texas. I heard that Rene drowned in the nearby creek, but I have never heard from anyone else.
I am sure you know/remember Belinda Alaniz - she is your relative in Alice. She is the one I have been in touch with.
By the way, didn't your grandfather Servando live near Nayer Elementary? Seems like I remember that - unless I am mistaken... you know what the say about memory and old age... :)
|Hiram Garcia||RE: hello|
Luz Gutierrez was my grandmother's sister, my grandmother, Andrea Gutierrez married David Garcia in San Diego, TX 1888.
I remember some of your relatives from Alice, TX: Antonio Perez & family; Dora Perez & her children Leonor and Rene. Servando Perez also rings hard in my memory - I am sure I knew him when I was young. At the time I didn't know how we were related, but my Dad always said we were cousins. It wasn't until I started research for my family tree that I discovered the relationship.
I have done research on the Garcia and Gutierrez surnames, and have gone as far back as 1750 on Gutierrez and 1720 on Garcia. I am stumped there.
My personal email is firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to keep in touch.
By the way, do you live in Alice? I have had contact with Perez's there but I have never met them. I would like to plan a trip just to go meet them and say hello to Leonor whom I fondly remember.
