|Joe DeBottis||DeBottis - Port Byron NY|
Sorry, but I mistook you for my cousin Kathy Jo DeBottis.
I believe you DeBottis side of the family is from the Providence, RI branch.
My DeBottis family came to the US in 1882 from Pietravairano, Caserta, Italy. My great grandfather, Antonio, and his brother, Francisco, came with their families to work on the railroad. Their sister, Rosemary, and already married and moved to NYC.
Antonio and Francesco first went to Ilion, NY, but the railroad spur there was almost completed. The next leg to be worked was near Port Byron, NY. So, the families moved to the Italian community along the north side of the Erie canal,just outside of Port Byron. When the railroad work began to come to an end, they purchased land along the canal and became truck farmers, growing produce and trucking it to nearby villages and cities by horse drawn wagons.
I don't know too much about your family. I have used the Latter Day Saints Family Research facility to photograph microfilm for our DeBottis family from the early 1800's to about 1835. But, I haven't had time to order more microfilms that would bring my files up to the present time.
I can send you what I have of my branch of the DeBottis family if you would like. But, you will have to make the connection to the DeBottis family of Rhode Island to understand how we are related.

Yes, it is complicated. There are many William DeBottis' in our family history
The brother of my great grandfather Antonio, Francesco (Frank) DeBottis (b. 1850 Italy; d. 1938) was married twice.
With Maria De Robeo (b. 1856 Italy; d.1896), he had William DeBottis (b. 1879 Italy; d. 1945) and ten other children. This William DeBottis married Alice B. Rich (b. 1995; d. unknown) and then Maude I. Upthegrove (b. 1892; d. 1926)
With Francesco's second wife, Rosa Carilli (b. 1873 NYS; d. 1925), he had William Angelo Sr. (b. 1900; d. 19360 and three other children.
William Angelo Sr. (b.cerca 1900; d. 1936) was married to Lillian Pearl Burd (b. 1906 Illinois; d 1967) by whom he had William Angelo Jr. and three other children. I havenít yet researched what happened to William Angelo Jr.
I will try to do that soon and update you with what I find. Please let me know what you have on the William DeBottis family.
