Bio and Links
Bio Photo So many people have come before us to contribute their DNA to our family trees and as I unravel the roots of my family I so appreciate people who have gone into the cemeteries to photograph tombstones and spend countless hours transcribing records so I can document my family. I would love to be able to help others find out more information about their family ties and I don't want anyone to be forgotten, so I love that this website gives us the tools to do that.

If I have created a memorial page for anyone related to you that falls within the Find a Grave guidelines, (vertical relationships, not sideways) please let me know. I hold to the Find a Grave rules on transfer requests. I am more than happy to add anything you want to pages and am quick to update. You may add photos and notes to any page whether you maintain them or not.

One note also about getting pages from inactive members that I would like to address. Many have created their own family pages and think they can have them safe and sound without being on this site for awhile. I can't transfer them in good conscience because they can come back at any time and ask for their pages back. Some people have to go inactive for surgeries or have upheavals in their lives, so they take a leave hoping to come back to their pages later. Find a Grave has entrusted to my care some of those pages, so I'm holding them in trust and will only transfer for close vertical relationships.

To get anything added to a page, please use the EDIT tab on the upper right corner and then the top line that says "suggest . ." Also use this method to add additional information to put in dates and places, and the new tab to link children & married couples. Hooray! The linking tool is built into the edit tab now, so please use it.

I have been a professional photographer for 37 years and I know how dear to the heart of a photographer the copyright is of a photo. However, in the case of my tombstone photos, if you would like to use them on other pages like Ancestry.com, feel free to do that but please have the courtesy of telling where you got it. "Photo by Sandy VanderTol" would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

RE: Van den Heuvel headstone
Ok, well thank you. I wondered with your last name, if you were a Dutch relative. Also saw that you had taken over their pages from someone else so thought maybe you did that because you were family. Again, thank you.

Van den Heuvel headstone
Hi - I see you are managing the pages for John and Dirktje Van Den Heuvel. I was curious if you were related to them. They are my 2x great grandparents. Thanks~ Tammy

"...at the end of 7 years they dig you up, stack your headstone in a pile with others, and bury someone else in your space..."

Eeew. I've heard some creepy stories about people being dug up or burials on top of other burials, but to have that as POLICY...

That's funny about the font... Am working with Black Monument in GR. Thinking of doing a bench. Angela (at St Andrews) thinks it would be a nice touch. No kids or family and I don't want to be "dust in the wind" if you know what I mean...

Actually, there are still a few plots left in Old St Andrews. My family area is along Madison Ave. (Millers mainly...)

OMG. OCD. If you only knew...wait...you DO know! LOL. Almost sends me into panic attack mode sometimes...

If I get back there this fall, definitely would love to meet you. Planning on being buried at St Andrews near my Grand Rapids pioneer ancestors and want to get back there late Sept/early Oct to finalize things.

Life is too short to get worked up over the little things and appreciate all that everyone does to help each other on this site!

Sandy, thanks for the note! Glad the problem was corrected. I think I had tried to/contacted her a long time ago and this was the caption that was added to the photo

"Originally submitted by "Barbara in Mich" but was not coming up on the individual record."

Anywho, all done and thanks! And, believe it or not, I never realized you could turn off the cemetery photo. Have a grrreat week!

Yeah, I understand that! My computer was doing some wacky things this morning - at least I think it was the computer's fault! LOL!

RE: Bertha
thank you for your help. I didn't know I could change name, thought you had to do that. Sorry I am not very computer savvy.
