~ THANKSGIVING ~
Hi Anne, sorry I am a little slow in answering your last entry. I haven't been on the computer as much lately. The weather has been great and I have been doing outdoor funzies rather than indoors. Some Harley time in the 65-70 degree weather and Firearms Deer season is in, also. I saw a lot of hunters during my hikes and I do have a deer license but have been waiting for Rudolph to appear with his bright red nose - my eyes are not what they used to be... The #1 rule when hunting deer is first, you have to see one!
It was wonderful news with your mother in law, PTL! I hope she continues with great improvement.
I was both delighted and encouraged by our governor's speech - oops, I mean our Vice President's speech - (Mike Pence - goodbye Joe) and he and Donald Trump being Christians and not ashamed of saying so will, hopefully, put Christ back into Christmas this Christmas as Christ is the reason for the season and wishing a Merry Christmas to one and all means so much more than saying, 'happy holiday'... I mean, "happy holiday" could mean the 4th of July or Thanksgiving which is fine but Christmas is Christmas, just saying. With the results of the election I must not be the only one that feels that way and it was amazing that the election went the opposite of what the liberal media polls predicted. It will be a long and difficult job for our newly elected officials to make this country great again and they are in my prayers. God bless America, and our men and women in uniform and the cause of freedom. have a great Thanksgiving Anne, we have a lot to be thankful for - later, alligator - Tom

~~ VETERAN'S DAY ~~
Hi Anne - first, I am hoping for all good things for your mother in law and that she isn't in any pain and all went well on the blockage surgery. My grandmother, Gram, had a blockage in her colon and at 98 no surgeon would operate on her saying surgery would be a sure death sentence at her age? That was then, this is now and they have come a long ways since 1982 on medical treatment so keep the faith. She told me that an angel appeared on the end of her bed, sitting there looking at her when she woke up - this was in the hospital and the angel was a male and she asked him what his name was but he didn't reply and she got her cane and reached up and poked him asking him to speak and the angel just smiled and vanished in thin air! She said she was not hallucinating that she was fully awake when this happened. She died the following day. For the record, I believe in guardian angels although I have never actually seen one. Gram believed in them long before she saw one. Secondly, I want to thank all veterans this Veteran's Day, men and women that served both in combat and in peace time. Many women have served in war zones and in combat - I have a female friend that received a Purple Heart for her wounds in Afghanistan and I give high praise to those women, many are moms, that serve our country. I salute all veterans and so does our President Elect Donald Trump which I am very happy about. Our troops will get the support they much need. Anne, take care, later on a freighter, alligator -Tom ~ God bless America and ALL Americans.

~~GOOD & BAD TIMES~~
Wow, I stayed up till 3:30 am watching and counting the Electoral votes and what a surprise which goes to prove, you can't trust the media polls. We had three small kids show up for Halloween - 3 total!? We had a large bowl of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Milky-Way candy bars left.... It was the smallest turn out ever? Having car trouble is always so stressful and costly. I have had a starter motor replaced on my Impala, spark plugs, and now I am dealing with an oil leak both on a valve cover and crank case. Bummer, no way can I crawl under the car to replace the gasket- it has to be on a lift... I am checking around at various places and hoping I can avoid taking it to a Chevy dealer as they are just outrageously high. I take the good with the bad but I am not complaining, everyone has car trouble sometime in their life and having good health makes the hard knocks much easier to deal with. Like you, I have a lot to be thankful for. Things could always be worse. I gained five pounds just sniffing the left over candy! Hang in there, Anne, be strong, be of good cheer, catch you later alligator, Tom

Hi Anne - sorry it took this long to answer. I have been doing a lot of hiking and not spending a lot of time on my PC. Wishing the best for your mother in law, she sounds like quite a wonderful person.

RE: ~~ HIKING FOR FUN AND HEALTH ~~
Anne - just wanted to wish you luck and a good day having your Zometa treatment, hoping all goes easy for you. I do not know exactly what kind of treatment that is but it probably won't be any fun.
Labor Day weekend was fantastic for motorcycle riding and I put on many miles riding my Harley to Cincinnati, Ohio and north to Fairmount and Marion, Indiana and on the back roads with tall corn stalks on each side of the roads and riding home was like riding through a long tunnel after dark. I do slow down because of the wild life, deer, raccoon's, coyotes, etc. coming out of the farm fields at night crossing the roads - I keep the speed down to around 45 mph. No 70 at night on back roads and to date, I haven't broad-sided any deer. PTL! The stars and Milky Way can be seen so vividly out in the country!
I have been to Brown County dozens of times and Nashville but do avoid it on holiday weekends - just too crowded and traffic is horrible. I was on I-65 when going to the Camp Atterbury Annual public open house. I took a bus ride to the restricted areas and they had a Howitzer 105mm cannon firing down range and A-10 fighters strafing targets for us spectators to see. I have a brick at the Army memorial there with my name on it as does my bro. It's a beautiful memorial (and open to the public) as well as the really neat Army Museum there (free) with many interesting displays, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam displays are definitely interesting and parents can take their children to see since they do not teach such history in the schools these days as compared to my days in school. I remember well VE and VJ Day and nobody was screaming "gun control" back then, guns were considered tools to keep us from being invaded by our enemies.
I was very glad the holiday weekend was nice and especially for those good folks that are still in the work force, a nice weather three day weekend is special for those that have to work every day and I do remember those times and how much holidays meant to me to just get a break from the pressures of my job and away from my boss! I had some really horrible supervisors better known as "stupid-visors" but I was lucky to have several very good bosses that treated their workers with respect and actually knew their job and were smart. They made up for some of the other ones and I didn't dread going to work in the mornings. Wishing you the best and all good things come your way - catch you later, alligator and take it easy greasy, you've got a long way to slide - Tom

~~ HIKING FOR FUN AND HEALTH ~~
Anne - enough on politics but just wanted to give my opinion since everyone else has an opinion. November will be very interesting. I changed my F.A.G. site photo so you can see what this lake I hiked to, yesterday, looks like. Just click on photo to enlarge it. It is Prather Lake which is rather remote and a good hike for exercise (rough getting down to it and then back up to the Hatfield Ridge trail) but the effort is worth it. I had the lake all to myself and that's about every time I hike to this beautiful lake. I need the exercise and have fun doing it. I have been to this lake many, many, times over the years and have only seen the normal wild life, deer, squirrels, raccoons, etc. but there have been reports of Bigfoot in this area... I always have my camera with me but I'd probably be shaking too hard to take a decent photo if I did see a Bigfoot -ha!
Yes, I saw on the news about Gene Wilder and I thought - OMG - he was 83 years old! I had no idea he was that old but I forget that I am older also. Time goes fast! Remember Gene Wilder was married to Gilda Radner. Well hang in there - catch you later, alligator, I am off on a Harley ride today! This summer has gone by so fast! Take care - Tom
