Re: Worley Frakes
I'm unable to link children from the parents (F.A.G. only allows us to link children TO their parents). I contacted Joseph's memorial holder to request they link him to Worley. I have no connection so if you'd like Worley's memorial transferred to you, I'd be glad to do it.

Hi Kevin,

I have linked everyone but Glenn, I do not have that memorial. Since you are related, did you want me to transfer the memorials to you?

RE: Adah Zehner, Schmitz/Smith
I spoke with a granddaughter of Roscoe Smith. She didn't recall all the information but she did agree that Harriet/Hattie Zehner was his mother but could not remember his fathers first name. I'm quite certain he was not from your Smith/Schmitz family but anything is possible. We do know now that he belongs to the Zehner side of the family. The granddaughter said that if she finds anything else out after she goes through her mothers papers she will contact me. I hope this has assisted you in your search as to who Roscoe is.
Have a good day.

RE: Adah Zehner, Schmitz/Smith
I received the obituaries today for Roscoe C. Smith. I don't know how much it has helped as it didn't mention his parents but there was one clue as to his mother perhaps. It stated that he had a half-brother Richard Laver of Mansfield. Harriet "Hattie" Zehner married Albert Laver and they had a son Richard. That leads me to believe that Harriet Zehner had Roscoe probably out of wedlock but don't know the Smith side. Harriet would've been 18 when he was born and it makes sense since he lived with his grandparents......Zehner's. I will have to try and search for daughters and sisters............when Roscoe died in 1957 he had a daughter Mrs. Arnold Kutel of NY and another Mrs. George Sarvis of Hillsdale, NJ. A sister Madeline Keefe of Mansfield, OH and Mary Ellen Sawyer of Columbus, OH. He was born in Mifflin. He worked for a Shaw's Jewelry Store for many years wherever he was living in Massillon, OH. Hope this helps a little bit.

RE: Adah Zehner, Schmitz/Smith
Kevin, I am having a hard time finding much on Roscoe but will keep looking. As soon as I get his obituary I'll let you know what I learn. I have a feeling that he might have been born out of wedlock but will wait to see. I also think there is some kind of connection to the Zehner's since he lived with them in 1900. He is listed as a grandson.

RE: Adah Zehner, Schmitz/Smith
Thank you. I will look into this tomorrow afternoon. I have requested Roscoe's obituary so might learn more from that. It might take a week or so and will let you know what I find out. I just can't seem to make the connection based on his birth date. He can't be the son of John I don't think as he was born in 1871 and Roscoe in 1888 which would make John only 17 at the time Roscoe was born. Might just have to hoping the obit will tell who his parents were.

RE: Adah Zehner, Schmitz/Smith
Kevin, Do you happen to know who your grandfather was and also your father? Maybe I can do some tracing for you. I know that according to records that Adah Zehner was John's 2nd wife and they married in 1916 and don't think she had any children of her own to my knowledge. I saw where you mentioned Roscoe living with Solomon Zehner and is listed as a grandson but don't have an answer for that. Roscoe was born 2 May 1888 so will have to do some research. I think he also lived in IL and MI. Any info you can give me will be a great help.
P.S. I am related to the Zehner side.

RE: Schmitz/Smith
Kevin, I just looked up some censuses for Peter and here is what I found for you to look up unless you've already done so.
In 1870, Peter surname is spelled Smits and his wife is named children yet.

1880, Peter Schmidtz and wife Sibella.....children are John, Anna M., Maggie, and Amelia.

1900, Peter Smith and wife Sevilla......children Anna, Michael (the same person as 1880 named Maggie), Amelia, and Rose.

1910, Peter Schultz and wife Levilla.......children Annie (Conley), and granddaughter Lillian, and Rosa.

1920, Peter Schnite and wife Sevilla.....children Anna (Conley), Rosie, and granddaughter Lillie.
You will notice all the crazy spellings. Now I'll have to do more research to see what I find but this will give you a start.
