RE: Opal Mears Smith
Yes, I told Ms Mildred. Is she the daughter of Mr. Whyte Lowe Prater?

RE: Hastings
I am not familiar with the family, but you know they are going to tie back to my bunch - all Cantrells seem to descend from the same couple. I plugged them into my family tree on ancestry, but couldn't make the connection. You are welcome to look at my tree if you would like.

I saw where you posted to her wall. And yes she is related. Her grandmother was Della Mae Smith, daughter of Charles Vinson Smith(=sister to my Grandpa William E 'Willie' Smith). So also a great great grand daughter of Coonie.

RE: Smith
I thought I replied to this yesterday...but with my memory, I'm not certain. Maybe it was someone else I texted. Anyway...
My daddy and most of his brothers always told us(me and my sisters) that Annie was full blooded Cherokee. However, his eldest brother, told me that she was full Irish. I think he may have been the informant at High's Funeral home for one of her children that gave her name as Annie McKinney. Another child'd death record at High's lists mother's maiden name as Anna Brown. All I know for certain is that she had high cheekbones and appears to be darker complexioned than a typical white person. My daddy was dark(tanned) skinned and I remember being at Old Hickory Boat Dock once and hearing a person walking past us on the pier saying "I wonder what that black guy is doing with all those white people". Not a good thing. My daddy had problems with blacks in Michigan. And so he did not like them. He didn't like Yankees, Campbellites, blacks, or as I found out After I was baptized, Mormons. I am happy to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! And I have had friendships with African Americans(or whichever is politically correct to use). And my grandson is being raised Church of Christ.I better stop now...

My daddy and MOST of his family always told us that Annie was full-blooded Cherokee. His eldest brother however told me she was Irish. I haven't been able to prove or disprove either.

RE: Barbara Orrick O'Neal
The parents of Barbara Orrick was William (Joe) and Cornelia (Lorance) Orrick. They, along with Barbara's husband are all bury at Oak Grove Cemetery. Grandparents were Doyle and Angess Orrick. Hope this will help.

Mary Ruth Milligan
You have placed Mrs. Milligan in the wrong cemetery.
This cemetery is fundamentally flawed and should be removed by findagrave. I have put her in the proper cemetery where her husband is buried; that cemetery is Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Mt. Hermon, not New Hermon. Are you a close relative?
