RE: Arkansas
Hi Ann, did you get to go to Arkansas? I really hope you did. I wish I could have gone with you. I plan on doing this also someday. I know they came from Paris, TN somewhere between 1877 and 1880 to Batesville, AR. They were there almost 20 years so I know there is information there. Hope you had a great time and hope you found something solid.

Thanks so much,

Eileen Nance

RE: Arkansas
Hi Ann, Did you get to go to Arkansas? I do hope you found something. I talked to a man there in Batesville whose last name is Nance , but he couldn't tell me much. There is a street named Nance there also. Please let me know how it went.

Thank you so much for thinking of me.

RE: James Madison Nance
I'm not related to him or the Nances', just connected to him through his second wife Helen. Helen was mother to William B."Bill" Fullen who married my mother's sister. I do know someone who may be able to help you and will comtact her and get back to you. Betty Moreland

Henry Clay Nance
Hi Ann, yes, we are relatives for sure. Henry clayburn nance as my father told me, married first to Arkie Clark. she was a strong pentecostal christian and it was a very sad day when she passed away I was told. then he married Etta Haygood. I am sorry he didn't say much about his parents. I know that they came to NE Texas in 1900 and that McKinley and Lonnie Lee were born in Texas and the others were born in Batesville, AR. Where do you live now? I am in Beaverton, Oregon. Do you remember my father at all? James Thomas Nance Jr. they called him Buddy. They were all there in Cason and Pittsburg Texas. I sure want to know about George's father and mother. My Dad told me that George's mother was living with some man she married in Pittsburg, but he would not tell me her name or George's fathers name. I found a marriage list in Paris, Tenn for the 1860's and I found Richard Monroe Nance had married Caroline Isabelle Finch in Aug. of 1867. My Dad named my younger sister Carolyn after her I think. When I showed this to my father he would not say one word about it. He told me before that they had divorced and that Richard had remarried and had two sons and he gave me the names of these two sons and said they were George's half brothers and I found them in Paris, Tenn census list. He did tell me that Richard married a woman named Susan McNutt and this also matches. Can you find out any more from someone down there?

George Washington Nance
Hi Ann, yes, you have information that I have seen before. It is incorrect. Do you know that there is a chest that belongs to Nancy Nance and it is with Helen Phillips in Pittsburg Texas and has all her things she left in it. Since you are such a close relative, you could ask her to let you see what is in this chest. There maybe information or pictures of George's parents in it. My anut and uncle still live there but she won't let them see in the chest and she said she is saving it for her grandchild. I don't know what the mystery is about George's parents but one day I will find out. Sis your father have anything?
Thank you for replying so soon.

RE: Lonnie Nance
Hello Ann; Yes, Henry Clay Nance was Lonnie Lee Nance's oldest brother. He had Emily Isabelle, Henry Clay, McKinley, and my grandfather James Thomas Sr. for siblings. Their parents was George Washington Nance and Nancy Paralee (Reeves) Nance. I have been trying for 30 yrs to find out about George's parents. I think they are Richard Monroe Nance and Caroline Isabelle Finch who married in Aug 1867 in Paris Tenn. But I need documents to prove this. Do you have any more knowledge? Thank you so much for writing me back.
