RE: Martha Ann Gilmour Kirkendall
Thanks so much! I had seen all kinds of dates on Ancestry, and am glad to have the definitive answer. Would you like me to establish a memorial for her? If so, under what last name? I'd be glad to transfer it to you as you are the logical one to take it. And thank you for your tree at Ancestry; I've seen it and will probably be linking to it more now as I get further into the family line.

Martha Ann Gilmour Kirkendall
I have been researching this branch of the Gilmour's and came across your note on your great-grandmother Martha Ann Gilmour Kirkendall's memorial. Can you tell me where your grandmother Grace Helen is buried? I don't find her at Find A Grave under any last name (Kirkendall, Chamberlin--or is it Chamberlain?--or Andrus. And when she died?
My connection to you goes back to Martha Ann's grandfather, George Gilmour. He was a brother to my ggg grandfather Dr. James Gilmour.

RE: Nathan Jackson Kirkendall Sr.
No problem! Hope that the adjustments are satisfactory. I tried to reflect the correct information without disturbing the original source.

Here is the link to the Washington State Digital Archive, http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/DC83CC90978DE30CB3221AC3F69081CF

Looking for Nathan by the correct spelling turns up no results, but if you use the incorrect spelling then you can find what was actually filed. Hope this makes some sense:)

You will notice that I have made some adjustments but as I mentioned in the previous note. I do not want to change the spelling of the original record. That is important for anyone trying to relocated the original source which is the newspaper record. I did place in brackets the preferred spelling.

Hi and thanks for writing. You will notice that the actual memorial is spelled correctly. It is within the context of the memorial where you will see the variant of the name. The reason why is that the original creator of the memorial copied the information directly from the record so the spelling of the name is important to maintain the integrity of the research. In other words, if someone wanted to find the exact same record that the informant used then they would use the same spelling in order to come up with the record. If you have other questions or suggestions please use my personal email address and provide your information as well.
