"But, O Sarah! if the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; In the gladdest days and in the darkest nights . . . always, always, and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath, as the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by. Sarah do not mourn me dead; think I am gone and wait for thee, for we shall meet again."|
- - - - Civil War Major Sullivan Ballou, to his wife, a week before his death in 1861

Amy, Thank you very much for Nathan Clark McCarns grave marker photo.
|Bernadette||Ethel Gier Snyder|
the death of your Mom must have been especially painful, occurring so soon after Christmas. I do hope my SAC didn't offend.
The cemetery escaped damage from Hurricane Sandy. It was badly vandalized a few months earlier, but most of the damage was confined to the upright monuments and repairs were promptly made. Security cameras are now in place to catch vandals and those making illegal burials of cremated remains.
Thank you so much for your time and efforts. My family and myself are so excited to have this.

I uploaded the images to Chloro's memorial along with John. I was unable to spend much time at the cemetery this morning. I did not see any other Thurmans in the immediate area however I will probably go back over there sometime this week. I'll check a little better when I go back.
There is Gustaf Thurman 1872-1946 at the Greenwood Cemetery in DePere just a few miles away. Find A Grave Memorial# 84576730
Is that someone you would like me to request?

Thank you for taking the time to take the photos. As soon as I got the notice that you had added them, I updated their information. Thank you, again.

Actually I have all the gravestones from Grundy Co. on my computer ... so it's just a trip to the couch for me to find and upload. :-)
You can also see them all on http://iowagravestones.org/ to verify the burial, etc. As I see requests come up on F.A.G., I add the photos there as well.

Thank you for fulfilling my photo request for Elizabeth. The Moores and Dennisons are connected to me through marriages to Eastburn and Springer sides of my family tree.
