How exciting you are going to visit Burney! The closest big airport is located in Sacramento (my kids fly out of there occasionally) but there is also a smaller airport located in Redding, CA. which is about 55 miles from Burney. I am not sure if there are flights from Sacramento to Redding but there is a travel agency in Burney called Tara Travel (530-335-3627) that can probably answer your questions about flight connections.
We are a small town with about 3200 people in it, one grocery store, Safeway, two traffic lights, several restaurants, a sporting goods store, two banks, Chamber of Commerce (530-335-2111) and about 4 motels. Hope these phone numbers are of some help to you. Burney is a lumber mill town with two operating saw mills. It is well known for Burney Falls Park which is located on Hwy. 89. Clint Eastwood has a ranch here, Rising River Ranch, (ran into him once in the grocery store and couldn't speak) :0)
Are you familiar with the history of Samuel Burney? The bio on his memorial pretty much says it all.
Now you know about as much about Burney as I do.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. How soon are you going to visit and what part of Missouri are you from. We also have family in that fine state?

I put a couple of explanations on the memorials. I too have walked that entire cemetery....there is almost a faint memory of the few days I spent searching for my husbands aunt Minnie Young. This before I learned of the phone numbers for the cemetery office records. I had those put on the cemetery. I only wished when I was out looking for days and was cold I had the number. I finally found her on the wall as you drive up on the east side, and she has a flat stone. As a driver on the road you can look down and read the stones and Minnies can be seen. If you drive back to the the south end, where the road goes right and drive over to the west side and the road will turn and go north, there was some old stones on that northwest corner that caught my eye and wrote down the information on them. May be there. I am afraid I am not sure where Charles and Carolines are but that section C is in the southwest corner. If the stones are not there now not sure what would have happened to them. But it is apparent that they were found in 1960 and again by me in 2009. If memory serves me correct drive in the east side, all around the cemetery and on that end of C or even while turning up the drive there was some OLD stones that caught my eye and I had only scrap paper and pencil. Husbands aunt in section E. Do you have a map of the cemetery? I could scan a copy of what I have and e mail to you. Contact me at email@example.com. Also if it would help I could bring me family out and we could look in some places and maybe jog my memory. And could meet you there. But you may want to look and see if those just happened to be in that section E where I found the aunt.
I do not live near this cemetery so cannot answer your question. Happy hunting.
