I can't hear well enough to talk on the telephone. If you have questions, email me and I'll try to help you.
|Deborah McCombs Moore||RE: Family History|
Her aunt (Lessie Lee Covington) was my great grandmother. Based on my research, Bertie (Lessie's sister) married William George Lehr (much older, a widower). They had twin girls (Clare Evelyn and Clara Bertie). Bertie the mom died and her sister (my great grandmother) Lessie married William George Lehr. In the 1910 census Lessie is married to WG Lehr, and they have three girls living with them: Evelyn, Bertie, and Doris. Doris was Lessie's child with WG Lehr. After WG Lehr died, Lessie married Robert Edward McCombs, Jr. They had three children, one of whom was my grandfather. It seems that Evelyn was raised by Lessie, but Bertie went to live with her half sister (from WG's first marriage), Fanny Belle Lehr Johnson, in Panola county. I don't have a death date for Evelyn's and Bertie's mom Bertie, and I haven't found her grave (nor have I found my great grandfather's). WG Lehr is buried next to his first wife, Lucinda Hendrelite, in Lehrton Cemetery in Sunflower County.
