RE: Bethel Cemetery
Heather -
I photographed all 600+ of the tombstones in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery three weeks ago. It took awhile to transcribe them and then upload all of them to find-a-grave. As of now, find-a-grave lists all of the individuals who have a tombstone (and several who do not) in Bethel Cemetery. I will be glad to pass management of family monuments off to their descendants.

My research indicates that current Bethel Cemetery has been in use only since ~1880. There was an earlier Bethel Cemetery (~200 yards down the hill from current location)which was used from 1836-1880. Any tombstone (and there are several) in current cemetery which dates prior to 1880 was probably relocated there from that older cemetery which likely has 100+ internments. My research indicates that at least three of my wife's grandparents are buried in that old cemetery and that as many as 5 of them were either charter members or early lifelong members of Bethel Church. Further, my research indicates that 21 of her grandparents are buried at Bethel, Beulah, and Pleasant Ridge Cemeteries. No wonder she still calls Alabama "God's Country".

RE: Wm Stewart and Eula Jane Burns
Three weeks ago I took photo of ~600 tombstones in Bethel Cemetery. Just finished uploading individual ID and photo for each - there are still a lot of people interned there who do not have a tombstone. Will be glad to offload responsibility for some of these families to other researchers - after I take a couple of days to clear the brain fuzz caused by this upload effort.

RE: Benjamin Richard Stephens
Thank you so much for the dates of Benjamin Stephens marriage and Jennie's full name. His first wife died in January of 1900. My grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Stephens Weems was his daughter by his first wife, Nancy Mary Shoemaker Stephens.
