RE: John Stanley
Hear that noise??? It's me hitting that "brick wall" over and over again!! The Stanleys/Harrisons are well hidden...I found nothing...absolutely nothing that you didn't already know.

RE: John Stanley
I'm upset when some people see something in print and feel that it must be correct and then go with it..thus perpetuating the error over and over. I know the Hale Listings are sometimes wrong (although a good place to start) but Hale and his men overlooked some cemeteries altogether/missed huge sections of some cemeteries/got names and dates wrong etc. I know that there are can be errors in the Barbour records..Rebecca's maiden name is one example. These plus the census records, bible records are all secondary sources and should be taken with a grain of salt. Yes, one should know that every time a person "touches" and transcribes a piece of information..errors can and will be made.

I don't remember going to Suffield to look for John Stanley's gravestone. I have several town's Hale Listings printed it is easier to find a gravestone...but I don't have Suffields. Anyway..perhaps it is something I can do for you...always up for a field trip. Which Suffield cemetery do you think he may be buried in..I'm sure there are several?? Do you have the location of his 2nd wife Esther's burial..or any Harrisons/Stanleys from this line??? What are her birth/death dates...if you know?? As you said..perhaps there are no gravestones...but another attempt is good and can eliminate a direction..or come up with other possibilities.

Let me know,

Wow David...thank you so much for the family history should eliminate any confusion by other contributors. Plus I should have noticed that you had already mentioned John's death date which didn't agree with the edit that I had received for the "other" John Stanley...will have to be more alert to errors in the future!!

The only research I have done on this John Stanley was I looked at the Hale Listings on Ancestry...and there was just that he died in Suffield CT but no cemetery records given.

Another contributor had a question about Rebecca's actual maiden had been Burns because that's what the Barbour Records on Ancestry showed and I received an edit for it. So I went to the Ellington CT Town Clerk's office and looked at the original handwritten marriage record (I have way too much time on my I'm a "doubting Thomas" and must see to believe!!)..and there it was...Rebecca Bump and Roswell Stanley...clear as day.

Again thank you so much for your time and trouble. Let me know if you need any research done in CT..more than glad to help,

Your very Welcome....sometimes we all make mistakes. We just need to fix the problem. I added the death cert to the memorial and also wrote he wasn't the father and husband of the people that were added to him. Also sent messages to the people that added the memorial to his.
You have a great day.
Thank you,

Help...I have entered into the Roswell/John Stanley debacle!! I saw your edit to remove John as Roswell's father. I want to put something on his memorial page as to where this info came from so it..hopefully..eliminates anyone else from adding this John back into being Roswell's father.
Any vital records etc. source would be great..

Thank you so much,

Ok, One more message to you. This isn't the same John Stanley. This John Stanley died in Dec 31 1822 Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Buried in Alms House Cemetery. Info from Family Search website. Showing his death on city death certificate. And where he is buried. Someone else attached the wrong wife and children to him. I wrote and ask them to remove them. That he isn't the right John Stanley. So next time you leave a message acting like you know it all. Maybe you need to check it out first. I try to add the right info on find a grave. Sometimes people do make mistakes. But not this time...I'll add the death cert to his memorial so there isn't any more mistakes. Thank you..JAMSearch

RE: Roswell Stanley and Rebecca Bump
I was just thinking about Rebecca this morning. I was planning to call the Ellington Town Hall tomorrow to see if they have the original vital records for her marriage to Roswell Stanley so that I can see her maiden name and verify what it is. Do you have a copy of this vital record?? Or do you have Barnabas Bump's will that mentions her marriage??
Here is my e-mail address so that we can communicate further .
Thanks so much,
