I have been researching my ancestors since 1989. My family lines are Bartleson, Fitch, Piant, Creely,Campbell, Kibbey to name a few. I did my own research & documentation following the Leyerle line to join the DAR. Over the years I have visited many libraries, towns and yes, cemeteries. I particularly like helping my 'cousins' out by sharing information. I did start this before the internet with letters & self addressed stamped envelopes! The internet is fantastic, so is Ancestry & this web site is just amazing. I have already added information to the sites of many ancestors with spelling & date details. I have quite a few more to do.

RE: Horace Fitch
No I was just letting you know I had photographed the stone and that you might want to take it over.

Horace Fitch
Horace Fitch at Dade City Florida Cemetery that I transferred to you I have a question please? Next to him is an Emma Fitch born 4/20/1831 and died 9/28/1907. Stone is in very bad shape but I was able to make it out. Is she yours also?
Thanks,
Donna

2Lt Vance I. Shield Jr
2Lt Vance I. Shield Jr was an officer with G Company 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed on 5 August 1943 near Troina in Sicily. He was buried in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in grave E-59-699, date of burial was 10 August 1943. On request of the next of kin Lt Shield Jr was buried in grave F-4-25 in the Sicily Rome Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy.
In Hampton, Virginia is a grave marker for Lt Shield Jr.

Over 1,200 men and women were buried in the GELA Cemetery between 1943 and 1947. I am writing a book about the temporary GELA Cemetery and would like to use the picture you added to www.findagrave.com, can I have your permission to use his picture, of course you will be credited and notified when the book is finished.

thank you
