Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've always found peace and an easiness in cemeteries and want to help others find their loved ones who are "missing" in their final locations. I find the tombstones and markers are so varied and interesting that I could spend hours in a cemetery and never know how long I was there.

I'm currently researching my side of my daughter's family and searching for their final resting places throughout the New England area (mostly Peck).

I'm also currently working on entering all of the gravestones for West Taghkanic Methodist Church Cemetery, located in West Taghkanic, Columbia County, New York, into the Find-A-Grave website with pictures for each.

Please note that some graves have been damaged, broken, overgrown and will not be able to be properly catalogued without tampering with the stones. As such, I will post what I can about the stone without touching it.

I have stopped taking photo requests for the time being as my email is glutted with them right now and I want to dedicate some time to clearing some of them before I take on any more. Thanks.

West Taghkanic Cemetery
Hello
I was at the cemetery today to start searching. My visit there was mostly to get a feel for the area. It was blistering hot so I only made a quick walk through. I did find a couple of graves that were requested. Rote was fairly common. Do you want more of that name? There were also a lot of Skoda names. Would you like any of those? I wasn't sure from you posts if you are in the Taghkanic area or not.

RE: West Taghkanic Methodist Cemetery
Hi Heather, You may have seen when I add a flower to a memorial I am posting more information/obit rather than keep sending you e-mails. That way the info for the memorial is right there for you to add. I don't believe that I am supposed to be putting obits under the flower, so as soon as I see that you have added it I will fix my flower.
If you would rather that I e-mail you, I will. Whatever is easier for you. I am still researching the family. Ev C.

RE: Duplicate entries
You're absolutely right about Lois. I had the date of the paper wrong. It was Feb 1907 nor Feb 1908.

I'll be happy to turn over anyone you want in West Taghkanic to you. Just send me a list of names and memorial numbers. Be forewarned that even if I turn them over to you, you can't delete them (something I found out the hard way). Only the person who created them can delete them. So decide if you want the obituaries/death notices to stay, and you add the pictures to the pages I created, or if you want to keep the ones you created, and me delete mine. I'd recommend keeping the obituaries. I get alot of messages from people telling me the obituaries have given them the names of long lost family members, especially married females.

My only goal here is to help people find their families. I'm not fussy about whether I manage the memorials or not.
Let me know
Susan

RE: West Taghkanic Methodist Cemetery
Hi Heather, I worked on my Hoffman branch yesterday and got some memorials all set up for you. I can't make a photo request because I had already used up my weekly allowance on another project. I will continue to research the information from my end to help out where I can. Ev C.

Rote Graves
Thank you again for finding Eli Rote and Family monument. His father was Allen Rote and a kind person sent me a photo a while back of his stone which seems to be almost hidden under a bush there in West Taghkanic Cemetery also.He was a veteran of the Civil War. Allen's wife Cerena (Serena) should be there also, if you happen to come across her stone or any Rote family in your wonderful goal of recording all the stones of West Taghkanic Cemetery. Thank you!
