RE: Solomon Fine
My reply, thank you for reading my bio and mentioning my husband, I'm still in shock, that's why I don't do this work any longer, we did the research together. I can't manage to do this work without Jerry. I added the memorial and wanted to leave a virtual flower and that's the one I chose. If it was a picture of the family I would have added to memorial itself not my name. I'm sorry I couldn't help you.

Solomon Fine

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. What a tragedy... I am a professional genealogist; researching the Solomon and Eunice A Fine family. My client descends from their son Elijah Washington Fine. Their branch came west on the Oregon trail, first Washington State, and then CA. My client lives here in northern CA. Could you tell me who is in the picture at Luca Fine's page. I am trying to discover Solomon's parents, and Eunice's last name.

Would it be possible for you to post their photo on their memorial? I have never saw a picture of them.
The picture on their memorial of their kids, I saw daily growing up. It hung in my grandmother Laura Jane Spencer Creech's bedroom.

Temperance is my g x grandmother on both my maternal and paternal lines. She had two children out of wedlock, Franklin and Marion Francis.
Franklin is the father of Marion Benton,my grandmother Laura's father . Laura is my grandmother on my mom's side.

Marion Francis was my gg grandfather James Monroe Spencer's father.James Monroe was the father of Deborah Spencer Brooks,my g grandmother on my fathers side.

I have heard the story of the scalley wag Franklin Marsh being the boys father, but I have never been able to find any documentation of him.

I have also heard other family members say that Franklin never knew who his father was.

Irene Spencer, the daughter of James Monroe Spencer, made a home made type book back in the 80's and she listed both the boys father as being unknown.

So I do not know for sure who the father of Temperance's boys were, but would love to find out since both of them are in my direct line. I find all of these stories very interesting.

Lucky you on the spoon find.

I have heard that about the slaves being poisoned by the water, but know little else about it.

I know it takes so much time and energy to research people, but if you could work on one at a time, it would be so much help. I know there is much to add to the Spencer story, and there are so many of them it can be overwhelming. I know just enough to be dangerous, and I have stuck to trying to add info to Franklin and Louisa's family, but am behind there as well.

I look forward to anything you add.
Thanks again.

Pherbia Shoemaker
Hello again,
I posted the photo of Pherbia. I was told it was her,but I did wonder at the time. People send me pics all the time and I take them at their word that they are correct. I know that I can delete the photo if it is wrong person. Are you saying that that is not Pherbia or did I misunderstand you.

I also wanted to tell you that as you can see, most of Mose's children do not have a memorial on Findagrave. You could make memorials for the children that you have information on. In the grave yard that Moses's is buried in there are many, many field stone marker graves and it is a good possibility that some of the family is buried there with the field stone markers. They should be remembered.

It would be nice to have the whole family represented and with your research you would be the person to do it,if you wanted to.
Thanks again.

I welcome any information about the Spencer family that anyone has.

The original memorials that I have were compiled by C.Long. His work stays on the memorials, out of respect for it and per Findagrave rules. However, I will correct any mistakes that he may have made with documentation.
Anything that you would like to add or correct, just go to the edit tab on the memorial,go down to where it says suggest any correction and copy there what you would like to add, and I will paste it on the memorial and cite you as the source.

It has been pointed out to me that Findagrave is not a geneology web site. It is an online data base for graves, that allows some linking of family through direct lines and some historical inf in the bio section of the memorial.

The information on the memorials are provided by volunteers, most of whom work tirelessly to get the information right, and I might add spend countless hours in cemeteries fighting the heat, cold, bugs, and often snakes to photo grave stones that many families might not get to see other wise.
My point is that one should not take the information on the memorials as the Gospel because it won't be. However most contributors are good people and will correct or add info to make the memorial as accurate as possible.

I know how frustrating it can be to see misinformation. I see it all the time on the family trees listed on ancestry and other web sites.

If you wish, you can send what needs to be fixed and I will correct or add. Thanks for your information . Take Care.

Joseph Spencer
Hello, I noticed a message on Joseph Spencer's memorial that you put under the flower's stating that his wife was not Mary DeRoachbloom. Do you have information as to what his wife Mary's last name was and other info that proves which wife goes with which Joseph Spencer. I would appreciate any correct info. Thanks

You can edit the information now for headstones, and the person that put it up can approve it and it changes the information on it

Alright, Wolfe Co. KY. That helps. The only work I've done in that county is on the Stidham family. So tell me how she's related to the Stidhams, and I might be able to find her.
