I have researched my family history since I was about 13! It is an addiction, I must admit. I don't live near where I was born and raised, so I am always looking for photos of the Upstate SC area. I live in north Florida and will gladly help anyone needing photos of grave sites in my area. I do work a full time job at the present time, but can spend time on the weekends helping, if anyone needs it.

Just email me.

Wellington Winslow Grumbles
My mother-in-law is the daughter of George Washington Grumbles, granddaughter of Patilla Hunter Grumbles and great-granddaughter of W. W. Grumbles. I've been researching her family tree and everything I have found for W. W. Grumbles, barring the find a grave website, lists him as William Winslow, not Wellington Winslow. Just trying to confirm which name is correct. Thanks and have a great day!

Re: John Jeffrey Richards, Jr
Hi! I recently photographed all the grave memorials in DeSoto Cemetery in DeSoto, GA, and I have been uploading the photos to Find a Grave. I have a photo of JJ's grave marker, but there is no room on the memorial page to upload it. If you would like the photo, I can e-mail it to you.

Have a great day! Peace. Charles

RE: Wesley Buford Darby
Cathy: Good to hear from another long lost cousin. But to answer your question, I have been working with others trying to find the same information. We have found no documents t prove that Wesley Buford was his son. Wesley Buford came to Greenville with his mother when he was a young fellow. I suggest you contact or look on Ancestry for Art Coogler Tree. He is a descendant of Hannah Darby Albright who remained in Chester. Art's father traced this back somehow and they were accepted by the SAR. I know they have Asa Darby. As you know, George drowned in the river in Chester. It was ruled an accident - "he was intoxicated". We have never been able to learn when his body was recovered or not. He died in 1823 when Wesley Buford was only 5 years old.

I don't know where you live but I still lived near where I was born and reared. In fact I have just been looking at some of the old deeds around that area where Welsey Buford and Malinda Darby lived. We are tie4 in with the Hollidays.

I hae tried for over 40 yearw to get some more documentaries on George, but nothing has turned up and no one living now knows anything that will help.

Alnother cousin, Evelyn Brown, here in Greenville has been trying to get inito the DAR and has had trouble with the same thing. She is a descendant of Catherine Elizabeth "Kizziah" Darby Holliday m. Albert Wesley Holliday, a brother of your grandmother Mary Jane Holliday Darby.

I wish I could help you with this. I keep hoping that with all the technology we have out today that someone is going to post something that they have found in their families that will solve this mystery.

We accept that George is Wesley Buford Darby's father and that his mother was Priscilla Clark Darby but I know the DAR and SAR deal in documented facts.

If I can help you further you may want to e-mail me direct at darwood3235@bellsouth.netand I will do everything I can to help you. I am now 81 years old and am still working on our families.

Keep digging. Would like to know which one of the Hand children your line is thru.
