RE: Philo Gilbert
Your welcome. There were several other Gilbert headstones there that I photographed and uploaded. I hope those are of use to you as well.

Josiah Gilbert

Hello Robert,

Thank you for the message...For some reason I can not find anything in my records of why I put Josiah Gilbert in that cemetery.I can't remember if I read it some where or if someone told me.I am researching so many other family names not just the Gilbert's.It can get a little confusing at times.

Anyway I'm going to remove the name of the cemetery off his memorial until I'm sure of where he is buried.I sure don't want to waste anyone's time if they were to look for his grave there & him not be there...

Again Thank you,

We must be cousins..Susan Polly Gilbert Adams was my 3rd great grandmother...

Place family
I see in your photo requests you are asking for a pictures of Pembrooke Somerset Place 1833/1840 and Nathaniel Place 1796/1882. They are my great grand uncle and 2nd great grand uncle according to I would be very interested in a picture also but I feel they do not exist. I have some old tin types of looks like civil war soldiers with no names that came from one of the Place family. They never will be identified as my older generation is gone and I wasn't interested when my Grandmother was alive.

RE: Elizabeth Hamilton
I haven't done much with Find A Grave for quite a while and am having trouble finding Elizabeth Hamilton Taylor Place on this website. Are you sure I added this lady? I don't recall anyone by this name. Please give me more info and I'll look again.

RE: Colonel James Jackson Dollins
Hello Again.

After thinking about it last night I remember where I got it. The photo is in this book. I hope this helps.

Franklin County, Illinois, war history, 1832-1919; containing a brief review of the world war--complete history of Franklin County's activities--photographs and service records of Franklin County's soldiers, sailors and marines--industrial and biographical review of business and professional firms who have made this history possible

No. I am not the owner. I believe that is public domain. I do not recall where I found it. It was probably in a book on the internet archive. I am just a fan of Jackson County Illinois Civil War soldiers. Good Luck with your research.

Stephen Decatur Place
Sorry for the error in reporting the Cemetery for Stephen D Place. It has been a long time since I added anything to Find A Grave and I have in my records the print out of Illinois Civil War Detail Reports from the Illinois archives so I knew he was buried at Andersonville. But have no idea why I listed Georgia. If you find anything else out of order please let me know. How are you related to this line of the Place's. I am a descendant of Sidney Place 1807-1890 and he was the father of Stephen Decatur Place.

Actually, I have not been to this cemetery yet. I received this photo from a friend who had it in her collection of photos.

I hope to visit soon and take more photos.

I would never use chalk on a marker, since it is not water soluable, and could actually damage the stone,

When I want to bring out the letters, I use a soft make up brush and cornstarch, which just washes off when it rains.
