Dorthea Dix Cemetery
Hi,

I was wondering if you might go to the Dorthea Dix Hospital Cemetery and look for a gravestone. It is for a Adelaide Sawyer, Memorial # 67855355.

I noticed that there were a lot of graves still there from the 1940's. I saw you're user name on a problem reported that said you had gone there last month and I am hoping you will be able to go to the cemetery and see if the marker is there. Also, I was wondering, could you make a note of where the marker is and who it is surrounded by. I am trying to get her body disinterred so I can take her "Back Home" to where her family is buried.

Best Regards,

Horace Braswell

Isaiah Bryant Sykes
Hi, Carol and Brian. Mr. Sykes was my Grand-Uncle, and Brian was trying to get a picture of the headstone but couldn't. Where did you post the picture of the headstone for I. B. Sykes? I'd love to have a copy for his Memorial page. Thanks so much! Pam

RE: Dix Cemetery
We went through NC historical archives to find a listing of how the stones were laid out. Even with the list you have to scout around because the markers don't always start at the beginning of the row and there has been some shifting of the stones. You,also, have to be mindful of the red ants; they are nasty mean.

Mr Sykes
Hi Brian,
Mr Sykes is located in row G grave 69. Hope you don't mind my friend and I photographed and posted his tombstone for the family. He was on a list of folks we were searching for.
Mr Phillips, Mr Greene, and Mr Beavers are not listed in the census for Dix Cemetery though they may be among the many unknown individuals buried there.
Best to you,
Carole
