|John Glassford||missing gravestones|
Q: "Would I be correct if I guessed that the records that have no images are cases where you could not find a stone?"
A: Yes, you are correct. I went thru the entire cemetery stone by stone and photographed every extant gravestone all the way to the back and far right as well. The Second Cemetery is not in the best condition as I have seen piles of stones on the extreme left and right sides of the cemetery at various times, many displaced. I have tried to photograph all of the stones to the extreme left and right by going back several times and doing a sweep on the grounds in problem areas and into the woods on either side. There is one particular gravestone located under a derelict iron fence that I did not attempt to identify for fear of injury. Additionally, at all cemeteries there are internments without gravestones, Second Cemetery most likely no exception.

Thank you for contacting me. The old burying grounds on Academy Road are two of my favorites... so photogenic if you can time it right with season/lighting/etc. I completed the Second Cemetery on Academy Road a block from North Andover common about 2 years ago. Prior to working on Second Cemetery I was taking photos all over Essex County. Second Cemetery and the Wenham Cemetery (where I did the graveyard tour for the museum) were the first two I completed in full on FindAGrave. I cannot recall which was actually done first in entirety, Second Cemetery I believe.
All at First Parish is done too I'd say, but I cannot be 100% certain so I did not list that cemetery on my FindAGrave page as being 100% complete. I have worked at cemeteries all over the place and all over Andover especially as I love the area and it's history. I have just totally completed the Theological Seminary Burying Ground [Chapel Cem.] at Phillips Academy. I am presently working on loading/researching a huge batch up at West Parish Garden Cemetery. I have all of the photos from the entire old section at West Parish and I upload sporadically in lots of photos. A friend of mine (full-time genealogist) helps with the research as time permits.
It would be nice to meet sometime if you are an enthusiast. I have actually informally trained a few rookie gravers on how to photograph gravestones for value of information, proper lighting/techniques, etc at the South Church Burying Ground here in Andover. I live in Ballardvale.
